He was probably taken higher than we predicted, i assume we wanted to use one of our late picks on him.

We had picks 37,39 & 45.
From what you’ve said about Brad’s comments then I’d say that we would have taken Bice at 45 but once the Swans snapped him up at 41 that was when we traded our pick 45 to the Saints in exchange for their future 2nd rounder.

I’m always keen to pick up good players but if Bice is 25 yo I can understand why we’d prioritise 18 yos with upside given where we’re at.

After watching his highlight reels even from round 1 this year he looks pretty darn good I hope Carlton get their act together and jump us by the mid season draft just so we get a look at him

Carlton took SSP players Matt Carroll, Francis Evans and Will White ahead of him. A bit concerning, although this is the Carlton recruitment team after all!
I do think our odds are better with finding an AFL quality back pocket. That said, I rated Hunter (before his body failed).

I don’t know that the MSD is the place to be looking for talls. Have there been any successful talls taken in the MSD? I think we would be better placed looking for a small defender or someone with outside pace. I would also be happy with any bloke with a bigger body that runs both ways or a classy finisher now that Edwards is out.

Iam happy to back in the new recruitment team.
On the flip side the guys kicked 45 goals from 16 games @ 22 last year we haven’t got any young talls that have got even close to doing that yet

Ryan Maric 33 games 16 goals - somewhat success
been a few rucks as well - Max Ramsden still on Hawks list
Teakle - mature age played a few games for North. (he trialed with us as well through covid)
We’ve tried with Hunter.
Maric is playing HBF now. Probably the most successful.
Wouldn’t be overlooking a Durham or D’Ambrosio if one was available to chase a tall to fill a need, unless we really rated them
Early days but Jacob Blight looks ok at Richmond. Cooper Sharman is probably best 22 at St.Kilda, too.
But not many as yet, no.

If its a tall can’t expect them to make an impact this year.

Would need to get past Gerryn, Vissentini, Laverde, Wright, Cox, Jones to get a match this year.
