Mid Season Draft 2025

Exactly. We will have 3 or 4 picks no issues with using one of those on a mature ruck

Crossley is only cover for Draper for 6 months

Good time to remember Shaun Grigg was a premiership ruckman

One out of the box there hasn’t been a premirship ruck like that since

getting a ruck isn’t an issue.

it shouldn’t be our first pick though.

grab who’s left with our second or third pick. after we get the guy with best chance of actually making AFl career in other position.

I think we will get Crossley with one of our second or 3rd picks i think Essendon is the only club who a desprate for a ruck

Haven’t seen him play before, but based on this its quite underwhelming

A mature ruckman would work if he and Vigo took it in turns, one in the AFL with the other in the twos. Goldstein to sit on the sidelines.

Also it isn’t impossible to play two ruckman in the same team, doing so would allow some more forward minutes which isn’t a bad thing for a young ruckman who has shown he can kick a few

I don’t think we’ll take more than 2-3 players and that one of them will be Krueger because he can play back and ruck. And I predict we’ll also draft someone no one has yet mentioned.

I hope we don’t get stuck with an 18 month contract for an average plodder like crossley.

I thought the same, looks like he did most things in slow motion

100% agree. We’d be foolish not to bring in temporary ruck support, especially with our 4th-5th pick in the MSD when we’re the only ones left taking players.

Get the best available talent first, then fill ruck needs afterwards.

Don’t need a temporary ruck. It will just stifle development of others. Anyone that we don’t believe will be on the list next season is not required. We are not playing finals. The concentration must be developing those on the list. Stop gap recruiting for half a season is plain dumb.

msd are 6 month contracts i think

No. Draftees can pick 6 months or 18 months…obviously 6 months is more attractive to clubs and 18 months more attractive to the player.

I would prefer a temporary ruck so that we’re not playing others out of position. Or at least as little as necessary.
But as others have said, not as our first pick.

I’ll be shocked if we offer Crossley 18 months i think the club will make it clear to him that this short term employment and offer only 6 months

Incorrect
You name your contract length beforehand so if Crossley nominates 18 months any club that takes him has to honour that

I think we will offer him the 6 months

It’s the player that chooses the tenure Nino…not the club. If the player is looking for 18 months then unless they’re a fucken star in the making they won’t get drafted. I reckon Crossley would be more than happy with 6 months. Regardless I don’t think we should draft a player who the Bulldogs decided against only 3 months ago…
