You’d think there would be some good options given last year was a super draft which probably means many worthwhile players were overlooked
With Goldstein the only actual backup ruck we have and with Draper being an important part of our forward line, you would think we’d be looking at KPFs and or a ruckman.
Having said that, the MSD is always a ‘best available’ kind of situation imo. You take whoever you think will make the grade and just hope they play a role that you need.
I doubt they will select players for this year. I’d say they will pick players based on what their list strategy is telling them to focus on. Medium to long term.
Bryan going down is a short term challenge but this year is about development more than anything else. Given they might use two picks, they could go for a ruck if a talented one is available. Depends on their thoughts on Vigo and his future… Aldo with Goldy to exit.
Otherwise it will be dictated to by their list planning…… Which could require another ruck (but we don’t know).
More middle eastern players please
lol! Love this…the dreaded 2020 draft!
The first of the mid season draft prospects to be covered on the channel this year, Tom Evans had an absolutely immense performance on the weekend for the Pioneers to put himself firmly into the MSD frame. He showed prospective AFL teams what he would bring, which is a prolific rebounding small defender with dash and excellent kicking skills paired with attacking, fearless decision making.
I didn’t know you could pull players out of the Under Age (Coates) leagues unless they’re over age…or playing minor leagues (SANFL, WAFL, VFL etc)
He would be overage if eligible.
He’s 19. Has gone from 20 PPG last year (11k, 9hb) to 25 PPG this year with 20 kicks / 5 HB.
Clearly some sort of change in the way he’s being used.
How’s his 1-1 defence - at 180cm he needs to match up on the dangerous small forwards as well as accumulate on the rebound. And is his kicking elite?
Iam hoping we look towards a forward/ruck type but wouldn’t be against another small defender
The Talent League includes players up to age 19 (over agers). They don’t just allow anyone that goes undrafted to play an over age year, but I’m unsure what the criteria is to qualify exactly. Kids that miss out on a substantial portion of their top age year due to injury are sometimes allowed to play an over age year, and it seems as though potential draftability in the MSD is some kind of factor. There have been a number of over agers taken in the MSD in recent years.
Sounds like exactly the skillset we need in the back half.
Sam Weideman kicked 7 on the weekend.
WSPHU
Ha, imagine if Rosa did pick him up. That would be one of the greatest trolls of Blitz ever seen.
Essendon has two mid-season rookie draft spots available after Tom Edwards’ ACL tear, with the Bombers understood to have heavily scouted Coburg ruckman Cooper Keogh in recent weeks.
Against Collingwood’s three VFL ruckmen two weeks ago, Keogh had 25 possessions, 35 hit-outs, 14 clearances and 10 score involvements.
Another ex-North recruit, curse you Brad Scoot
Our intraclubs should be rucks vs non-rucks.
Iam not liking how we have been linked to players twice in two weeks for the mid season draft.
Not because I don’t like the players I would just prefer we kept our cards closer to our chests
