Yes, the surveys of attitudes towards Jews in the region are far worse than my analogy would suggest. I was being generous to make a point.
According to virtually every poll Iâve seen, most Palestinians are supportive of what they call âarmed resistanceâ and donât recognise Israel or the rights of Israelis to live anywhere in the land (the idea of pre-67 borders etc isnât a thing to them).
Yet most Israelis would happily support a Palestinian State in theory. The theory being that safety could be guaranteed. This is and was likely always an impossibility because too many on one side are more concerned with genocidal Jew hatred than they are with bettering their own lives.
Zelensky could cite some examples of Russian behaviour ATM, his country fighting for survival.
No-one on here has said that at all. European colonialism has much to answer for especially in Africa, but on every other continent as well.
This week Hamas has done horrible things, nothing in the past excuses that.
The one country this worked out well for was the UK. A little backwater speck that lays more claims to historical greatness than Essendon and sits back totally blameless.
They should be the ones going in to clean up the mess they created.
And considering how Blair operated during the gulf war, maybe itâs time to create him an envoy position and broker peace, which might reprieve him of the contempt he showed for the lives of his own people 20 years ago.
I certainly wouldnât invite them in to my home, if my home was illegally built on their internationally recognised land.
You know itâs not that simple, right? But way to ignore the point.
Hamas was elected as the government of Gaza circa 2007.
There are no jews living in Gaza, so it is the area that is ethnically cleansed.
Palestine is a creation of the British Empire. It did not exist till then. (Ottoman before that)
It is the Palestinians who print text books and teach their children to hate Jews, not just Israelis
Brutally killing Israeli citizens with suicide bombers
Gaza is not a prison, it has a border with Egypt. Where is your condemnation for them.
Checkpoints required because of the constant threat of terror against civilian targets.
Palestinians as it has been said never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity, having rejected every attempt at negotiation since and including 1947. They have chosen violence at every stage. What would you expect any government to do in that scenario.
Please check historical facts before regurgitating propaganda
Also Hamas has not held any elections since they were voted in
But why is this incident receiving more sympathy and attention than the killing of Palestinian lives? When has the Opera House ever been red, white and green in solidarity with Palestine? The only thing people like you communicate is that Israeli lives matter more than Palestinian lives. Itâs sad that this is what it has come to.
The true Palestinian government and the Palestinian representatives always condemn violence. Theyâre always asked to apologise for Hamas in every CNN, FOX or whatever else interviews theyâre invited to. And theyâre only invited when the Israeli state is attacked. Why are Palestinians always asked to apologise for what Hamas did, an organisation they never instated, but Israelis, who actually vote for their government, are never asked to apologise for all of the injustices committed by the Israeli government? Why?
Why are Israeli officials never asked to condemn the killing of innocent children by their government?
Why arenât they ever sanctioned for their war crimes?
Why are the US never questioned for their involvement in funding a genocide? Why?
Why do people continue to perpetuate the narrative that the one in power is the only one that deserves protection? Why? How heartless?
People are using this incident to justify all of the injustices and war crimes committed by the Israeli government. And as a response to Hamas, the Israeli government are DOUBLING DOWN on killing innocent Palestinian civilians and children as we speak with the backing of all world superpowers like they always have. For Palestinians, nothing has changed.
We all know the Israeli government has the resources and backing to defend Israelis, but who is defending the innocent Palestinians?
Why is the coverage so one-sided? Why is the conversation in the media only when the Israelis are attacked? Where are the sad stories of Palestinian families being displace on Channel 7, Channel 9, Herald Sun, the Age, ABC, CNN, Fox etc?
Why do Palestinians have to continue suffering at the hands of an oppressive regime âbecause a two state solution isnât viable due to the risk of warâ when war is all they know? For who isnât it viable? Because the Palestinians are dying. So who is being protected here?
Are you serious?
The Palestinians donât have voting rights in the West Bank or Gaza. What are you on about?
Look at how you misrepresent the reality of the situation in Palestine.
How about you do a PROPER history check instead of regurgitating pro-genocide nonsense.
The Palestine Action Group Sydney, which organised the rally has issued a statement condemning those who expressed antiSemitism and disassociated them from the Group.
The Group has a Facebook page, which I canât acress without giving Google my mobile and email.
It does not have a website address, but it is referred to on the website of the Australian Palestine Advocacy Network, which claims to have Jewish membership.
Itâs been active in the Voice referendum, using it as a vehicle to promote the Palestinian cause.
It is organising a rally in Melbourne for Palestine National Day on 27 October
How about you address the fact that the Israeli government killed innocent Palestinians LONG before the existence of Hamas. And how about the oppression happening in the occupied West Bank? Why are Palestinians being killed there?
Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2006.
Since then Hamas has continually attacked Israel. Of course Israel, with international support, will retaliate to constant missiles, suicide bombers and the massacre over the weekend.
They have had a chance to show they want peace but havenât taken it.
Israel will retaliate 100 fold and the Palestinian people will suffer even more. Their own doing.
And the alternative is whatâs happening in the West Bank where Palestinians continue to be killed and oppressed?
If Palestinians dot have voting rights in Gaza or the West Bank, that is the fault of the governing parties, Hamas and the Palestinian Authority. They are autonomous. They donât have voting rights in Israel because they are not part of Israel.
Youâre the one laying blame on Palestinian citizens. And what outcome will voting give to the Palestinian people? Will the Israeli government end their occupation of the West Bank? Will the Israeli government remove illegal settlements of Israelis in Palestinian territory?
This is why your victim blaming is nonsense.
I agree with much of your posts. I hate the actions of the Israeli Governments. No-one is right in any of this and the history has not changed for centuries.
Hamas and Iran are evil, and not sure any here including you can dispute this.
It is the Palestinian leadership that is letting the Palestinian people down. They are the ones who are chasing this course of action, knowing that they are inviting reprisals, while their leaders cream the economy for their own benefit escape to safety and live luxuriously in the gulf and other places. As with most events in history, follow the money.
