something something throwing stallion off the top deck at the g if stringer isn’t wearing red and black next year.
Didn’t Stringer play as an U18 for the Bendigo Bombers, for a few games?
Wonder if we were keen back then…
Please don’t let BT commentate on our games.
Oooooorazio to the Package, boy oh boy wowee
Do not want.
We didn’t think he had enough to offer. I still don’t think he has enough to offer. The Bulldogs fans don’t think he offers enough, they love him when he plays well but that only happens once every so often.
Acctually if they package him with Crameri I’m interested PUN INTENDED
The way I look at it is that Stringer is an upgrade on Green. But I wouldn’t want to pay too high a price in picks and players because the upgrade is only marginal overall. Offensively it’s a definite upgrade but defensively it’s a downgrade. They’ve both got the same ability to ping a hamstring.
Personally I’d rather Green and develop BBB and Lav. IMO Stringer has been well down on his past couple of seasons and we’re ok for forwards that can pinch hit the middle.
I want a gun mid please.
Stringer is both everything we need, and everything we dont need, in the one , err, forgive me, package.
No, untrue. We thought he offered a tonne but with Joe always taking our 1st pick there was no way to get him without trading into the top 10.
His 3 games for Bendigo, including the Elim final, ended any thought of him sliding in that draft. Until then, there was some doubt about his broken leg recovery.
Would happily give our first for him. WANT
I kind of like the idea.
When it comes to our forwardline, if one player doesn’t play well then another player stands up.
If Daniher has a poor game, generally Hooker has a good game. If Fantasia has a poor game, Tippa usually has a good game.
Our players in forwardline might be inconsistent, but that comes with all forwardline players.
As long as someone stands up to kick a few goals, then it’s fantastic.
Stringer would make us a lot more unpredictable with our forwardline.
A Daniher, Hooker, Stewart, Fantasia, Tippa & Stringer forwardline would be a nightmare for opposition clubs. Which I like.
I also back Worsfold to get him in the headspace needed to perform.
Just out of interest, who was the coach of Bendigo Bombers when Stringer played for us?
Skipworth, from memory. Grant left in 2011, i think.
I think targetting other sides 2nd and 3rd rotation miss or fringe is def the way to go.
More than half of success at AFL level is opportunity, the rest hard work and talent.
(pr something along those lines).
Trust the better talent spotters than I to pluck the guys starved of a game because of a great midfield.
Richmond sounds like a good place to start looking. Maybe a gem in Adelaide Woosha was following before coming over…have no idea of fringe guys at these clubs to throw up a name though for discussion.
I really loathe bringing in guys paid overs unless they are that good there really is no such thing as paying them too much.(and there are only a handful tops of those guys ever available).
Stringerzzzzzzxxxxxx yes please
To be fair, this has become ritual at this time of year…you know, hard breaking bad habits!
Lets promise him midfield time and then play him forward.
It’s a tough call, but I’d consider making that trade if that’s what it took.
A draft pick between 10 and 14 along with two players who have had injury concerns their entire careers (this year is the first time either of them have played 20 games in a year) for a definite gun midfielder who is durable (has barely missed a game in his career) with at least five years still to come.
I’d also only make the trade if Gaff extends his contract by a further three years as part of the trade.
It’ll mean we’d have to find a way to trade for another midfield talent (particularly inside mid), but if we’re confident that one of Mutch, Laverde or Langford will be able to take a spot in our midfield then we might be okay to try our chances for an extra midfield option with late picks in the draft.
Maybe he wants to play more midfield.
Absolute no-brainer to do that deal. High risk/high reward though because there’s a bit of Cupido in Jake in terms of mental application and cashing in on the raw talent. Best set of events for us is if he’s fallen out with a few players and just needs a reset. Im not sure thats all there is though.
Anyway, lets get through the finals series first, then see how things look.
