Midfield Trade Targets

That just proves my point.

Does it? Ok.

We had the opportunity to get the best player in the draft by father son at pick 10. We had no opportunity at drafting Stringer when he went at pick 5.

Selecting Daniher was a complete no brainer.

If we had a chance at 2 top 5 picks, IMO we would have taken Daniher and Stringer.

The issue Stringer has the Bulldogs, is he is expected to be the no.1 forward. In our forwardline he’d be 3rd or 4th.

Gaff is going to Hawthorn. Similar to JOM, it’s been in place for ages… :frowning:

I thought they were all over Whitfield…this could be the fastest ā€˜rebuild’ in history.

Sorry but you have to give something to get either Whitfield or Gaff. Hawthorn have nothing to give draft pick or player wise. Hawks will be looking at free agents in this years off season because it is only a money issue.

What do they have left to offer?

Vickery?

Bugger all picks and bugger all trade value. The Hawks bluster is sucking everyone in.

They have next years first still - don’t they?
And they’ll suck in GWS with a player like Breust and a second rounder because GWS are crying out for a small forward - maybe even Rioli
Regardless if the players want to go there they seem to get the job done.

Not entirely sure about that. I think his problem is that he can’t or won’t present to the footy often enough. For all his power and speed he tends to observe too often.

ā€œCome on , Bevo. He’s tall, you need talls. And he’s on half a million a year, he must be good, right?ā€

Next year’s first round pick would be about it. I think they’re all out of fringe turds rolled in premiership glitter.

There’s been some strife at the Dogs this year. There was definitely some fallout around Stringer & Johannisen through the year. Stringer had some personal stuff going on too, the breakdown of his relationship & his former partner and their two kids moving back to Bendigo. I doubt his mind was on the job for much of this year although people at the Dogs were saying he arrived back from the break in very good condition, unlike others such as Smith, Libba etc.

I don’t think Stringer is a player we really need. Yes, his best is great but he’s far too inconsistent to be dealing away first round picks & big money which is what it’d take to get him. He’s worth far more to Dogs than anyone else IMO but these trades sometimes happen if there’s been some impact on team/club culture. That is merely speculation, I don’t know that as fact but it does seem the Dogs will likely deal him this year. I know we were keen on his draft year but he was taken pick 5 in Joe’s draft year so it was near impossible to get him. I get the feeling there’ll be some more changes at the Dogs too.

^Agreed.

Will be a bidding war for him and we don’t really need him. Our preferred setup at the moment is 3 talls, 3 smalls. And then we have Begley and LAV there as well, BBB in particular has the potential to be a Stringer like player.

We have one of the most dangerous fwd lines in league already.

I’d rather us unload our cash/first rounders on an actual gun mid which is our key area of need.

Could it be that the Dogs premiership will end up like that half a season Port had?

yes, even most Doggies supporters think that. They know they have no forward line and a limited midfield and that most clubs have worked out how to stop them.

Here’s the market for where they think he will land

  1. Essendon - $1.75
  2. Collingwood - $3.25
  3. St.Kilda - $5.00
  4. Hawthorn - $9.00

I will lose my ā– ā– ā– ā–  if we get stringer in exchange for a 1st rounder. Would much rather gaff than Stringer

Didn’t they trade last year’s and this years? Thought you weren’t allowed to trade future 1st rounders 2 trade periods in a row.

That rule doesn’t start until 2019, so they can allow Geelong and Hawthorn to keep trading until then.
