Missing/crashed planes, and other aviation mis/adventures

I had a chance to go there in 1977, but thought it would be too commercial, so went to Lake Toba in Sumatra instead, a decision l have never regretted. I did make it Bali in 1993 and loved it. My wife and l went there in 2016 and were very disappointed. The beaches in particular were filthy, with tons of rubbish marking the high water line. That wasn’t just in Kuta, but also in Singaraja on the north coast.

Rubbish seems to be right around the island. Massive development on north coast of large villa development, lots of people retiring there.

We left yesterday after a week and it was the most chaotic we have seen it. Was great catching up with friends but nice to be in my happy place currently aboard Qatar airlines

Are American Airlines known for being unable to deliver flights?

I’ve just been modified a third time (was MEL-LAX-MEX, then they inserted DFW between the Xs, then they changed the DFW timing, and now they’ve changed the MEX-DFW flight number).

Weirdly, despite every single time remaining identical on this latest change, the reported overall flight time has somehow increased by 55 minutes…

Wot you bringing back from Mexico then?

They are normally ok. MEL-LAX on Qantas obviously and they have plenty of issues on that route so perhaps they have changed scheduling or having dramas

Nah, the MEL-LAX bit has been unchanged; just AA constantly fiddling with LAX-(DFW)-MEX.

It’s a bizarre one because AA don’t tun a direct flight from LAX-MEX which is weird considering the size of both. Aeromexico does most of those flights but AA has about several flights per day between DFW and MEX. Obviously having some dramas

They did when I first booked: was AA2546 there and AA2547 back, “operated by American Airlines”.

Ended on 3rd September.
I’ve done some digging and AA has put a 2 months pause on LA and NY flights to both Cancun and Mexico City for capacity reasons which usually means they have fleet issues. All 4 of those routes are resuming on November 4th it seems

Both my flights are after then, so I’ll wait to see if they switch me back again!
