We’ve had a bunch of guys down there all week for the trade days.
Run into any West Taiwan planes or prospective buyers?
Apropos of Avalon, people going back in history.
Apparently the last time the Russians fronted, it was an Antonov…
That same plane owned by Ukraine was allegedly wrecked by Russia early in the Ukraine War
They weren’t invited I believe.
Yeh, Russia and China not invited.
But I’m sure they had “associates” wandering around looking at things.
I didn’t go to the last Air show and I can’t honestly remember if a Antonov came out for it but I do know that in 2017 which is the last one I attended the had the Russian owned Volga-Dnipr Antonov here and that is still flying as of today. There has been several of the Antonov Airlines Antonovs destroyed (I think 4 or 5 of the AN124’s) that have been to Australia many times plus the AN225 which has been here just once and was the worlds largest aircraft
I had a radio program in the background doing interviews from Avalon.
My sauce for the post.
Perhaps Antonovs Airlines did send one out in 2019, I wasn’t there and can’t recall it being here then but if it was then yes it was almost certainly one of the ones that has been destroyed. Antonov Airlines only have 2 remaining. V-D still have about a dozen of them flying around and the one that was here flew to Abu Dhabi yesterday
The last air show l went to was in 1988 at Laverton. I would love to go to this one, but it is just a little far. If it was on this side of the city l would be there for sure.
2 hours drive each way for me today.
Lots if very loud aircraft though
jeez, from where?
How hard was it to get in?
How much extra time do I need to add to my planned travel?
2 hours pretty normal for Airshow time, for the public days- from the city.
The traffic snarls to get parking are legendary.
Far better to catch the dedicated v-line service if you can.
Yeah I want to go but the absolute shitfest to get in and out was an absolute nightmare. Strongly recommend to get a train or something there if possible.
Do they have a dedicated bus lane?
Maybe I could get the train from Werribee or somewhere, I’m. Not catching it all the way from Sunbury
Should be able to catch the v-line from there and there’s a dedicated bus service from the Lara station.
That was from outer-east Melbourne.
The traffic once past the roadworks on the M1 was OK (just remember to get off at Point Wilson Road, not the Avalon Airport terminal exit). However getting past the city on a weekday morning was a nightmare, even though I timed it to pass after 9am.
I’m tossing up if I catch the train or drive…
Get to a station which has a stop for the Geelong V line, maybe Sunshine?
Going well
3 hours travel time from Werribee to Avalon
It’s a bit of a joke. Happens every how many years and they still don’t have any idea to solve this traffic issue?
