Mlb 2016

Bogaerts. Best SS in the game right now

Got to the game last night. Was brilliant. Tight affair (we won 2-1) with Peavy pitching really well and Belt hitting a 2 run HR (which is all the offense we needed). Crowd was really into it given the dislike for the Dodgers. We have a 5 game lead in the NL West (would love a 5 game lead in 2 months time!).

Cain back from his hamstring injury tonight. Pagan likely on Wednesday. That will leave Pence and Romo as the only starters out injured. Both still 6-7 weeks away.

Braves Reds was a shocker for the purists

6-6 into the 13th…2 outs…then load the bases, the third with an IBB…THEN 0-2 and 4 balls to walk in a run. Reds scored another with a single.

Braves then came back with 4 straight hits to win with no outs.

Bloke who gives up the IBB then the walk gets the win.

And Freddie Freeman hit for the cycle. Triples are unlikely for Freddie. Thought he was dudded on a challenge and overturn on a bang-bang play at first. I couldn’t see enough to overturn.

Nats beat the Cubs in extras too.

Braves sweep the Mets at Citi Field. Teheran pitched a one-hitter, a single, and faced only 28 hitters. Another demonstrating how useless the Win column is for pitchers because he gets little run support.

Cubs are really looking the goods. Steve Bachman will not be allowed within a mile of 4400 West Addison. I hope they make it to the World Series. Sorry, DonMania, but I’m sick of you lot now you’ve dumped the Freak, the Franchise and Big Time Timmy Jim. Cubs are kicking Pirate freckle. Led 6-1, Pirates came back to 6-4 so the Cubs reeled off 4 in the bottom half. Bryant is a dead-set stud. Can’t believe Buxton was rated above him last year.

Cubs are one reliever short. Maybe a lefty.

Rest is pretty solid

Wash your mouth AN! Its an even year and you know we will be in the thick of it  We are 27-8 in our last 35 games. Got to keep it going.

Sure was strange to see Timmy with a halo on his hat :frowning: A lot of Giants fans made the ride over to Oakland to watch the game. He got a massive cheer when he took the mound. And a great performance to boot. He will always be a Giant in my eyes. Helped return us to relevance after the whole Bonds drug saga.

They were commenting during the game yesterday that they’re pretty sure to be looking for one at trade time, maybe from the Yanks.

They won’t want to give up any of their young stars though, so there’s the dilemma.

I know it’s an even year. I just hope the Cubs knock you over. Two tremendous sets of starters. A lot of it comes down to Arrietta vs Bumgarner but the Cubs might be a tad deeper with Hammel, Lester, Lackey and maybe Hendricks (who’d probably go to the bullpen in the postseason.

But, don’t take it badly, I prefer Barca to Real Madrid too. So there!

You sadden me AN :frowning:

A day after providing not a single run to Bumgarner and losing 1-0 (the one run coming off a HR that popped in and out of Pagan’s glove) the Giants routed the Pirates 15-4 and got 22 hits. Wonder how Bum felt…

Cant believe Buchholz made his way back into the rotation…first pitch…homer. GTFO

astros finally back to 500 still think we are a starter short in the pitching rotation hopefully may keep pressing on for a wildcard spot!

Cards swept the Cubs at Wrigley.

Braves’ 6-game win streak over. They trailed 2-0 to Fernandez yesterday. Fernandez comes out, Jace Peterson ties it up with a 2-run shot, then singles in the winner in the 10th.

The Cards are a strange lot this year. 11 games over .500 on the road, 6 games under at home. Currently on an 8 game road winning streak and a 5 game home losing streak.

■■■■■■ Nationals. Had the game against the Dodgers in the bag. Bottom of the 9th and their CF makes a 2 run error allowing Puig to score an inside the park HR and win the game.

Oh well, the Giants came from 1-6 down to win 7-6 in Pittsburgh.

Naturally I went out at the top of the 9th in the Dodgers game, and missed it.

47 wins baby! Tied with the Cubs (who, admittedly, have played 4 less games).

Cubs have been trailing the Marlins until a David Ross (at the age of 63) homer. He seems to have been around forever as all the guns’ favourite catcher. He’s retiring at the end of the year and I wouldn’t mind betting he’s managing someone in the bigs inside 3 or 4 years.

Love David Ross!

Cubs lost again today

All very well, but the Braves came back from 3-1 down to beat the Mets again.

Their record against the Mets and Marlins is good. Pity about the Nats and the rest of the NL.

Cubs are now on a long road trip with lots of injuries.

In a bit of a rut now, will be interesting to see if they can get through it
