MLB 2023

Tim Wakefield passed away, honestly the last great Knuckleballer. Prime Wake had me thinking i could transition to being Knuckler in the late 90’s only to find out just how hard it was. Under rated all time great

RIP

Yes, and thanks to that absolute disgrace of a human being named Curt Schilling, everybody knew about it in spite of him and his family wishing to keep it private.

As someone who supports both SF and SD, I am conflicted

I would love for SD to get rid of him as I think he has no idea about managing - look at the Padres dismal performance this year. They have had glaring problems since April that he has not bothered to fix. Bating, fielding, pitching management, injury management - you name it, it has been BAD. And what they did well under the previous regime they must have been told not to do under his watch. I can go into an essay here but no-one is interested enough in NL west to read it

And with a SF viewpoint, they don’t need his level of mismanagement. They have been bringing on young players that will improve -look at how AZ has come up this year from a long way behind

I am conflicted too. He worked successfully with Farhan Zaidi at the A’s so maybe they could get going again in SF. But I agree that a younger voice may be ideal. Let’s see what happens.

From an SF point of view, how the heck are we supposed to attract any free agents without a manager and a president heading into a lame duck year?!?!

First day of the Wild Card playoffs…best of 3 series.

Rangers beat the Rays 4-0
Twins beat the Blue Jays 3-1

9th inning

D-Backs lead the Brewers 6-3 (game over)
Phils lead the Marlins 4-1

Would LOVE for the Rangers to make it to the WS with Bochy

Rays out

Phillies and D-Backs also advance.

Brewers and Marlins out.

Twins had lost 18 post-season games in a row until this series…since 2004.

Braves lose game 1 to the Phillies 3-0, one on a call of catcher’s interference with bases loaded. Camera couldn’t pick anything but both catchers knew…Realmuto was the batter. Harper solo homer.

Rangers and Astros also won in the AL.

Go the Phils

That Trea Turner epic double play. Wow.

Kinda cheering for an unusual World Series matchup, whatever that may be.

Don’t really wanna see the Dodgers or Astros in it again.

Happy for the Astros to never make it to the WS ever again.

Realmuto saving his power hitting for the post season

Geez. That hurts

Phew! Held hitless for 5 or 6 innings.

I was always worried that the Braves’ pitching pool is way underdone, with Morton out of this series, Anderson, Soroka and Wright all injured, Fried having troubles with blisters on fingers of his left hand. And Elder showing signs of fatigue.

Go D-backs! Beat LA! I’m in Los Angeles for meetings today and one of the meetings was at the JW Marriott hotel. Walked in and ran headfirst into the Arizona Diamondbacks players and all of their families as well as the front office. They were staying at the hotel. I am crediting myself For bringing them good luck tonight.
