Piano is surely a NZ film?

You’re terrible blitz

The Big Steal was great. Early Ben Mendlesohn and Claudia Karvan.

Malcolm was very entertaining and I’d second Bad Boy Bubby, Lantana and The Big Steal.

Forgotten all about that one.

Ah yes, @wimmera1, my mistake…It is mostly a NZ film…

The net tells me this: ā€˜Though the film’s credits make no mention of it, as official co-productions are required to do, the film is generally considered a French/Australian/New Zealand co-production.’ I guess that disqualifies it?

I think the director plays a big part in the nationality of the film.
Obviously there’s grey areas.
I wouldn’t call Driving Miss Daisy an Australian film.
But I’d be more inclined to call Apocalypso an Australian film than a South American one.

It’s tricky.
But The Piano is also set in NZ, so…

Point well taken. I guess that fact has always been obscured for me, because Holly Hunter’s character Ada may have been partly inspired by an old young gf of mine. Apparently Jane Campion met her in Braidwood, NSW at a party or some such social event.

Simply Ballroom?
Dead Calm?

Oh and I know it;s a tv series, but Spyforce was just the ducks guts in our house.

Didn’t love puberty blues on first watch but I reckon it’s one that stands up OK to rewatch.

If we’re talking name dropping, my cousin’s in a couple of films named in here.

Gets to sing a little song, too.

Can’t believe that The Adventures of Barry McKenzie hasn’t had a mention or more importantly Bazza holds his own.

Go on then. We’re paying attention…

That’s no fun.

Penos knows!

With Clive James having his ā€œbloodā€ drained by Donald Pleasance’s vampires, only to have the blood come out amber.
