MUSIC GENRE - Punk - TOP 10 bands

So, this is going to show peoples ages. I was born early 80s so hit my peak around 1994 when PUNK ROCK in the states really blew up, bands like Green Day and The Offspring got regular airplay.

I always was more for the “Underground” bands.

1.NOFX
2.Pennywise
3.Good Riddance
4.A Wilhelm Scream
5.Propagandhi
6.No Fun At All
7.The Offspring
8.No Use for a Name
9. Strung Out
10.Game Over

Frenzal, Lagwagon and Bad Religion could have been on there

Was a massive Rise Against fan but they really lost me over the last few albums.

Surely you would have to list at lest some of the bands that really started punk.

Sex Pistols, Saints, etc

Whilst I appreciate them I never listen to them

Blasphemy.

It’s like Mick Jagger without the Rolling stones.

Or Roger Daltrey without the Who.

Iggy’s solo bands have never had the talent of Ron Asheton or James Williamson. They are 2 of the greatest Guitarists of all time… none of the other 9 bands I mentioned (Including Iggy), would be around if it wasn’t for both Asheton & Williamson.

Hard genre as so much snobbery, I’ve gone with bands that I like rather than with ‘cred’. In no particular order

Blink 182
Sum 41
Good Charlotte
My chemical romance
Fall out boy
Simple plan
Avril lavigne
5 seconds of summer
That dude off Australian idol, sung that wasabi song.

Good god!
Punk died in 1978.
Young people today have no idea…

In rough chronological order -

The Sonics
The Stooges
New York Dolls
The Ramones
Richard Hell & The Voidoids
The Sex Pistols
The Clash
The Damned
The Buzzcocks
Wire

The end.

(loved the punk ethos at the time, but prefer post-punk really)

And at least keep the list to bands that actually are Punk.
