Music You've Been Listening To

So with Elton currently in Australia on what is his final tour (well… at the moment), having a bit of a renaissance. Not that his music ever went away or out of fashion in the slightest, what are your top 3 Elton tunes?

Such a good song. All of yours were but that one in particular is pretty underrated.

So hard to know how to rank them (not trying to be deliberately obscure, honestly).

  1. Saint
  2. Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me - Live with George Michael
  3. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

HMs: Song for Guy, I Guess That’s Why They Call It The Blues…many others depending on my mood.

It’s always seemed…weird…that what is so obviously a love song from a guy to another guy…doesn’t get in my way?

Lol! Forget that part, I’m thinking of One More Arrow, which I also like from that album.

This bit is still relevant, though.

That line, ‘Well take it from me, my baby’s a saint’
…friggin’ wrecks me every time.
Still.

Cannot beat the opening track of Goodbye Yellow Brick Road

Oh no. Dare I click play on that?

Just found this little gem that came out in 1971.

@Doggatron …have you heard this?

What is the album like? This song is really quite good

Have you listened to her earlier albums?

It’s similar to them…quite good imo.

I haven’t. Need to get busy on my music again

Very much enjoying Fergus McCreadie’s contemporary piano trio at present. Reminiscent of the Neil Cowley Trio to my ear, with a touch more melodic emphasis. Certainly has a Celtic feel.

I mean…literally.

I have no idea why I hated Public Image so much when it came out.
I thought it was unlistenable. It’s not that far from Sex Pistols and the guitar sound is pretty influential.

Listening to music, obv.

And apart from the Conway Takeaways mystery,
What really strikes me is Waters stealing the tyre scream guitar part from ABITW2 for Radio Waves.

It just seems like the biggest ■■■■ you ever.
What can Gilmour do?
It’s a second at most.

Edit: you’re missing out, btw.
Awesome Sunday arvo playlist.
