Small world. Sounds as though there were issues all over, not just here in Australia. Oh well, crank the album proper tomorrow. :metal:

I really like this new album. Seems like a good fun rock / pop effort. A few different styles in there for the Jebs too.

First listen of the new Pearl Jam album in the car this morning and I’m impressed. Much better than the last one they released.

I’ll have a proper listen to it over the weekend.

It’s their best in a long time, and I love all their albums.

Wow!

Not bad. It does fall into the all too common fault of dance tracks by taking a good song and watering it down with too many effects that tend to blur and bury the original melody under the production techniques, many of which add little to the track.

Yeah you’re right. It’s a hard balance between putting your own spin on it and maintaining the original groove.
Haven’t listened to dance music since a teen and been getting into it lately.

I like this one they did too.

Voice of Baceprot has electrified Indonesians with progressive songs about female empowerment and pacifism.

While l prefer the original Rob Palmer version, this one is of some interest, though not primarily for the breathy vocals, more so for the instrumental treatment. I would have liked a longer instrumental break for them to stretch out and give us more of the haunting keyboards.

About two years ago Amazon put a pre order link on the US site for this Hendrix boxset:

Its a collection of outtakes he made during the last few months of his life after the completion of his own Electric Lady Studios was built.

For what ever reason, the links became dead and the boxset was never released. There was rumours that they had been pressed, and then this year, a couple went up on ebay, at astronomical prices.

This week, it was leaked on line along with the documentary thats included in the boxset about the creation of the studio.

Electric Lady Studios: A Jimi Hendrix Vision. Its really good and ive been flogging it. Theres some plodding stuff, as to be expected on any outtake release, but there is some unbelievable material and playing included.

As a record collector, I hope it does get an official release, but as for now, I am one happy Doggatron.

My kids don’t believe me when I tell them Rod Stewart wasn’t always ■■■■■, evidence for the Defence.
PS Amazing band was the Faces.
PPS Warning! Extended drum solo, albeit a great one.

Excellent band and ferocious onstage. Never liked R Wood in the Stones but he fitted like a glove in the Faces.

Give him a chance, Bob. He’s still the new boy.

Always will be a Faces player for me [OBITV]. Daryl Jones is the new bassist - he must be relatively farking new as well. BTW I have been listening to Bill Wyman’s Rhythm Kings and I reckon they are OK - not great but listenable!

That pic is of Stewart with the late great Ronnie Lane. I managed to see the Faces at Lakeside oval, in an afternoon concert. Stewart pranced around in his satin pants and pink feather boa. By then Lane had left the band and Tetsu was on bass. They were a boozy, rollicking good time.

On their albums like Long Player, l was drawn more towards the melodic tunes by Ronnie Lane than the raunch of the rest of the band. Lane put out a series of solo albums, for me the pick of which was the wistful Anymore for Anymore which harked back to the music hall days and west country folk music. He was also a guest on the excellent Rough Mix album of Pete Townsend, and at one stage was even squatting on Townsend’s property. He later died of MS. I wonder what he could have done if he had ever teamed up with Ray Davies of the Muswell Hillbillies era.

Ronnie wrote a lot of material for the Faces and rumour has it that Rocking Rod refused to sing the track Debris off the Nod is as good as a Wink… album so Lane did and I reckon it saves the album. Love to get some Slim Chance albums but have never seen them in the wild. When I saw the Faces Tetsu was on bass as well - it was a great set!!
