Well this is a surprise… said no-one in the history of ever…
The festival scene is in strife… especially if they keep putting together random bills like this…

If, like me, you’re a fan of Contemporary Big Band music, the newish release from John Hollenbeck, the great drummer/composer/arranger, and the NDR Bigband is an absolute must. My fav musical release full stop for 2024 and maybe for the last decade. Had it on continuous play for ages. Majestic in its scope and imagination.
Really, really good.
Refused coming on always got me excited in those episodes
Lot of stuff that’s out of my wheelhouse, but really good.
Like that, and Wilco, and most of it, really.
Here’s the heart attack inauguration addition:
I was so mad when I found out this didn’t just sound like Tom Petty, it was Tom Petty.
I thought I’d found a band.
Geez he’s underrated.
Great song that belongs on his best-of.
Given they always support the underdog and underachievers, who else but The Fauves could write a paean to failed explorers?
Featuring one of the best lyrics ever…
“Now I’m crawling on my belly
Thirsty, searching, there’s no telling
No account for Bill Peach to immortalise”.
70s.
I put this one away for a maxxy day knowing it would be coooool man and finally got to it. This would of made my list if I listened to this album sooner.
For the @Doggatron and the other cool dawgs out there.
That’s sensational. So textured. Never heard. About to go outside to water the plants. The experience now has a soundtrack. Thankyou @Maxx
Bug is a good song on the album
