My favourite Jon Anderson stuff is what he did with Vangelis and then with Kitaro.
I only have four individual Yes tracks on my playlist…no albums.

Roger Dean’s artwork is usually the best part of any Yes album in my experience.
How ironic. Who is giving you these recommendations if that’s the crème de la crème of 500? Do yo know the elevator music man? Is he behind this?
If it does, then I’m a bad person too. I can listen to Porcupine Tree, Pineapple Thief, Opeth (on the albums he decided to sing rather than throat gargle) etc. until the come home.
King Crimson, Yes, Genesis et al. though I find ponderous in the extreme.
A mate made me a Prog mix CD several years ago… a few disks’ worth. Just could never get into it. Exemplary musicianship of course, but generally either a) a lack of a tune, or b) a good 3 minute tune stretched out to 15…
Ah what a nice person you are @Maxx.
From the songs that you post on the various threads, it would be fair to say we have a limited area of shared music taste.
And as Doggie said earlier:
That’s a great word to use to describe those bands and their 60s/70s output.
and that ponderous stuff was the inspiration for many a punk band in the 70s. I’ve just been listening to the Buzzcocks debut album Another Music in a Different Kitchen. All killer no filler.
I have an old Macbook, which I used to run Logic Pro 9 for music recording purposes. It’s died on me previously (the well-known graphics card failure), but I had it resuscitated. Not for Logic… the incessant OS updates had long since made running that untenable. More for a couple of very useful legacy Apple audio/video editing tools which have been obsoleted in subsequent OS updates.
A few months ago I dragged it out, only to find it wouldn’t turn on. Dr Google told me it could be anything from the battery, a dead SATA cable, a graphics card failure, a hard-drive failure, to the CPU. I tried all the troubleshooting I could (or so I thought) without success. It was just waiting for me to rip out the HDD, read the last rites and toss it out.
Having recently stumbled on a couple of additional things to try, yesterday afternoon I gave things one last try.
First, I went through my previous troubleshooting… yep, still dead.
Then I tried “resetting the NVRAM” (powering-up with a specific sequence of keys depressed)… whoosh, the thing roars back into life. Well, in a fashion anyway… it powered-up with the fan whirring furiously, showing a white screen with a progress bar which got about halfway before powering down, and then repeating the same power-up/power-down loop over and over. It was… well, some signs of life anyway.
Now that I seemed to have power, I tried booting in Diagnostic Mode. This made it as far as recognising the HDD, before powering-down and going into the same white-screen loop. So, at least the HDD seemed to be intact.
Lastly, I tried “resetting the SMC” (another power-up but different keys depressed)… bingo-bango! It powers-up, without the roaring fan, goes quickly through the white progress screen and onto the Apple log-in screen. The battery reads 1% though and the power drops before I can login. This time things were different though… now the charging cable is showing an orange light indicating the laptop is drawing power and charging (previously it had been stuck on green light, indicating full charge).
I left it to charge for a couple of hours, and tried again. Complete and utter success… she powers-up, battery shows 60%, I login and everything is completely functional!
Essentially it seems the laptop had gotten completely drained, scrambled and forgotten its boot sequence, which had also blocked its ability to be mains-powered. No idea how that happened, but it seems to be an obscure, though known, issue with Macbooks of that vintage.
The rest of the night was spent listening to all those old recordings - still perfectly in their place - with the added bonus of finding a whole host of mp3 albums which I’d completely forgotten about. Looks like I need to transfer a whole bunch of files, before the damned thing inevitably dies again…
I thought they were Aussie but I still checked.![]()

Tame impala, ocean alley etc can all get in to a bin and be Cannoned in to the sun via the sea.
Edit: in my opinion.
Edit x2: Which is correct.
While neither band could lay claim to greatness, I think you’re overreacting here.
