NAB challenge #1: Essendon v Carlton Ikon Park Sunday 28th Feb 14.05

Fark Carlton .

A win first up abeit a practice match would be good to silence the media specialist.

Sorry, but meh to a practice game. A coach with something working on field & therefore “winning” is likely as not to fk that up & try something else to see if THAT works, & so on & so forth.

I’d much prefer that, so they have as much knowledge & insights into as many set up’s & scenarios as possible, so they have the best chance of getting a REAL first up win, when the 4 points are at stake.

Cripes! … there’s not even a cup OR even cash to chase in these games anymore.

Edit: Especially this year, … more than any prior.

Yes,… that’s the only reason it matters at all, … as I said, it would be nice, especially if they go hard, with a full squad. (They probably won’t though)

Where’s the team?

Fair call.

Which ever teams forwardline clicks will win. I’m confident whoever we select will be competitive against the blues. A couple of early goals would be Good as players have a bit to learn given new coach and half of team

Possible team, largely being Friday’s Black team and the necessary Oranges to get to 26.

B: Qwilt, Hartley, Baguley
HB: Parish, Brown, TIPPA
C: Orazio, Goddard, Gleeson
HF: Zerrett, The, Kommer
F: Polkinghorne, Daniher, Grimley

Foll: Smack, Crowley, Zaka

Bench: Bird, Hams, Jerrett, Edwards, Cooney, Kelly, Stokes, Francis

That’s 11 new players. Obviously include Laverde if OK; possibly Sam Michael if signed. Giles would have got a run…

Great bench considering the circumstances.

Grimley to kick 6 big ones.

Eleni is umpiring us, how did she goe in the internal?
"Didn't notice her make any wrong or confusing calls '

She has to go.

Just wish I didn’t have to go to that ground to watch this game.
Would have preferred a more neutral ground for our first up game.
Will be interesting what sort of crowd reaction we get from the great unwashed Carlton supporters.

I’d be pretty annoyed if the coaches were worrying about the scoreline… always nice to smash FC but right now the focus surely has to be on finding a 22 that can gel and giving new guys the opportunity to settle into positions.

From that perspective the NAB becomes super important to our team planning and hopefully we have a few more answers in a weeks time about how we are going to set up.

Neither does the Brisbane game a couple of years back clearly. And Swans in 2006, Eagles in around 2002 or so etc

I’m also sure I watched a preseason game there, V the Dee’s a few years ago

Paid for my membership but membership pack hasn’t turned up yet. Hope it turns up this week so I can go. Might actually be a fun game.

I feel dirty driving past that place. I’ll go though.

And if someone can explain to me why I had a dream in which Chris Judd came and had dinner at my house and rode home on a horse I’d appreciate it.

Id like to see

That’s a young and very different defence than we are used to missing the H’s Hooker, Hurley, Hibberd
But Carltons forwardline is rubbish so they should be able to do the job.

The side is actually pretty quick apart from KPP’s if we can win some ball on the inside we might worry some teams.
