NAB Cup 2014

I’d probably prefer to let them have one practice match and extend the regular season by 2 games

As an idea for the NAB cup, why not extend the proper season for 3 / 4 weeks and ban practice matches between clubs. This way all clubs are in the same boat and have to use the 'real' season to get to scratch. It would make an interesting month as the teams adjust to new game plans and get their campaign on track.

It could also make an interesting end to the year for those clubs who may have pushed to hard early.

I like the sound of this, it would be a really long season and allow teams who fadeout a bit more time to regroup in time for finals.

Another benefit would be that players would be rotated more and you'd get to see more games pumped into the younger players.

It would be a bit more fair as you'd play more teams twice so you'd getter spread of opposition played a 2nd time (not sure if that made sense).

As you say some clubs will still be getting it together or trying to hold back and not peak too early, so you could get the jump on some better teams early on.

Definitely interesting, would make tipping harder though.

The idea has merit, although not sure the players would agree to it.

The main issue with extending the season is also access to the grounds. That's why all the NAB challenge games are played on smaller grounds.

Why not shorten the season? Less games, means they are more important plus the fixture can get a little closer to fair.

NAB cup should be ended, just have a few practice matches in rural areas and go into the season.

Shortening doesn't work for commercial reasons.

We can have a themed country town round :)

Dont understand posts like this, id have football year round if I could, when its over I just want it to come back, why would you want less football?

Longer season will NOT work. Players and coaches already think it goes for too long as it is. Plus, clubs will still have practice matches anyway.
