Only have space for one.
Your points are valid, but we canāt call it a success unless he turns into a decent player
40 is stupid. If theyāre going to keep it it should be after the first round.
Thought we could have 3 on the cat b list?
They reduced it to 2 when they cut list sizes during COVID.
Hussein al ackar who Iāve seen live and really rate just won the u16 division 1 edfl boys goal kicking and best and fairest. He is small and stocky but quick and knows how to find the ball (and the goals it seems too, which i didnāt previously know).
A full AFL preseason and who knows.
Id assume hes settling into melbourne and professional football life this year.
I reckon Munkrat will surprise us all next year. He has ability and lots of footy smarts. I recall when @benfti first pointed out Walla and I thought, yep I have seen lots of indigious kids do things like that in the dust in Yirrkala but few make it to Melbourne. Walla made it and has been the Bomber with the most skills in the last 20 years.
Munkrat needs experience and maturity, he is 18 and turns 19 in October, so he is very youngā¦ Walla was nearly 23 when he had his first game. So if Bombers keep Walla around next year, and he looks after Munkrat, Davey Twins and Tex, who are all young, then maybe we will see some Walla type footy fireworks.
This is the new Essendon supporter success rating. The player just needs to not be injured.
with McBride gone, Iām expecting us to add one of our NGA guys to the list if they get through the draft.
Carlos Egan has played a couple of games for our VFL side.
Alessio played VFL recently too. maybe might be worth adding to VFL list next year.
Eyre had an ok season by reports might be a chance too
Iād expect Taha and Eyre would be the favourites. Taha rated higher but may be drafted (or matched by us). Eyre fills a need and may slip through.
I doubt any of the over-Ageeās will be considered.
Talk that Taha may be drated inside 40, but closer to draft gets I feel maybe he falls outside and we can match bid.
good game on the weekend.
Round 15
https://central.rookieme.com/afl/player/mahmoud-taha/
It was a rather typical day of accumulation for Taha, who amassed a whopping 37 disposals in Calderās midfield. The Essendon NGA product came in fresh off VFL experience with the Bombers and certainly had no issues finding the ball, but had a harder time hurting the opposition with it. Most of his best work was done by hand and on the inside, as Taha extracted possession and let the Cannonsā more explosive players break to the outside.
If we have a list spot.
WSPHU
How good would it be if Barnardās son had the same abilty and toughness of his dad, but even bigger size?
(I know zero about him, btw, just daydreaming. )
I doubt very much that taha will go top 40. He is a good player but doesnāt have the height or athletic traits to make him too appealing to clubs.
Not hurting the opposition with his ball use would be a factor, plus his size playing as a inside mid.
So, youāre thinking weāll use our first rounder?
If heās giving it to the outside players clean, I never understand why that doesnāt count as hurting the opposition?
Pascoe vale footy club are the production line of next gen academy players for us. 3 years in a row there will be Taha, Kako and Al ackhar, all Lebanese background kids.
