How many kids usually get trialled for each team?
Just thinking out loud, if itâs 35-40 odd players then between SA, WA, VIC C & M, thatâs 140-160 kids and only 70 odd get drafted (ND). So, it doesnât really speak to whether these guys are considered top 40 chances or notâŚ
Are there a bunch of kids who donât do the trials but are automatic ins? Like Reid, Watson, etc?
Yeah a few are automatic ins and a chance all of them donât make the final squad which usually sits between 35-40

None of this years group made National or state combine list, players could still get added but looks unlikely we need to worry about matching any bids this year

We havent had much success from our acadmey listed players compared to other clubs.
Munkara is a success.
Eyre would fill a need HBF.
Next year should be good, problem with success these days though is that we miss out on them if they get taken early

in comparison to cost (Free) ie not selecting a player cat B for multiple years from Tiwi, Definity looks like he has the most talent out of the bunch. We were kind of lucky, its not often a guy that makes the AFL Academy team ends up outside the top 40.
IMO We were very lucky to get Munkara Cat B.

I think itâs pretty unlikely he does tbh, but you take the shot every day of the week.

The new rules make it pretty unlikely for you to have any success. If they players are any good, they go top 40, if they are borderline draftable then they are available for us to pick. It makes for a pretty fine line.
