Forgettable first game of season
Pengs would have been stung by 0-6 loss yesterday that said
Big day of hockey yesterday, 14 games. Geez, the “Utah Hockey Club” have started well.
But today is Battle of Alberta day!
Heading into this game:
- Flames are 2-0, Oilers 0-2.
- Flames 12 goals for the year, Oilers 2
- Huberdeau 5 points, McDavid 1 point.
It’s a bizarro world situation that won’t last long (might get blown away today) but I’m going to enjoy it for the brief time it lasts.
There’s gonna be some proper niggle in this game, I’m expecting quite a few fights.
I’m loving hockey being back.

4 days in and no one has mentioned Ovechkin.
How many does he get this year?
Does he get to the record before the end of next season when his contract expires?
41 to equal.
I don’t think we will be good enough as a group to get him to 41 goals this season. Reckon he probably will get 30-35 this season and then pass it the following season.
If he manages to pass it this season I’d say he will retire from the league
I’m predicting his first major injury then 15-20 goals making next year and hence the record on a knifes edge.
In that case he will sign another season with us and hopefully get the handful of goals required. Once he breaks the record he will retire.
That I agree on.
I’m hoping he gets it next year. Would be dreadful if he is a handful of goals short and needs to come back for another season.

Pleasantly surprised Wings bounced back so well from Pengs loss to do over Pred 3-0, Talbot with a 40+ shot shut out game. Will be a great acquisition
