Official EFC v Dockers Review thread

We need a tagger

Maybe freo aren’t that bad. But they finished 14th last season with the second lowest points for. Not the sort of side we should be losing too. Not to mention the 4 players drafted last year in freo’s side

F*ck me there is some seriously over-reactions.

We’ve won 2 games of our last 19 interstate games. After the way we played last week, we weren’t going to rock up to Perth and tear Fremantle apart by 100 points like many people were expecting.

We played similar to last week and everyone was happy. Now playing like this is deemed unacceptable because we lost.

There’s a lot of stupid results n the first few rounds of a fresh season.

This is one of quite a few this round thus far. Infuriating as it was.

There were no positives we were outplayed, outlcassed and out coached,

Everyone was predicting for Bags to come in the side because of the shorter Freo forward line. Because it was only logical.

Not sure why our coaches didn’t follow that logic.

  • Heppell & Zerrett at 54% and 52% efficiency, with Goddard having zero influence and Zaharakis missing easy targets that he would normally nail. You can’t have your best players butchering the ball all night and expect to win.
  • Tippa looks unfit and has lacked his usual intensity this year. One good quarter in two games and we need a hellava lot more from him.
  • Joey was awful and what made it worse was the cringe-worthy attempts to milk a free kick. C’mon mate.
  • Smith was outstanding. 13 tackles and used it well for the most part. His pressure and willingness to run was a highlight. BOG for us by a country mile.
  • Saad & McKenna should be pleased with their games, along with T-Bell & Green.
  • Hartley, Dea & Brown… geez.

Round two. We lost by 16 points when a lot of our better players were well down and playing a team that were determined to put on a good showing at their new home. I’m going to put this one down as a bad night. We have the Bulldogs next Sunday, and expect a lot better from the lads. Too early to be too negative imo

He would have been ragdolled by Cerra tonight, Essington style.

Maybe others on here are right.
Some have tipped Fremantle be the dark horse of the competition.
Maybe Freo’s performance last week was an anomaly.
Freo to finish 8th to 12th?

Fair enough. I just don’t know why we weren’t determined to put a good showing in. If this is our “break out year” surely the players would be determined to win these games interstate??

Instead of taking that opportunity that presented itself tonight to get ahead of the ledger and kick off the season in a really positive manner, we drag ourselves back into the mire of mediocrity that we are so familiar and comfortable with.

Whoooosh

Maybe it’s an over reactions given round 2, but I know I for one was just hoping that perhaps this season we may actually beat sides we should. I was hoping that this year might be different. Bit based on current evidence there is little reason to think so.
