Brighton 1-2 Derby in the first leg.
Uphill battle for Brighton to get to Wembley now
Derby v QPR at Wembley looks likely
QPR won 1-0 with a 90th minute winner by Zamora
Belter in the League 1 playoff last night.
Leyton Orient led 2-0 at the half after two goals in 5 minutes, the first was a cracker.
Pretty good skilled and open game, Rotherham scored twice in 5 minutes in the second half to level it at 2-2, Revell’s second goal was an absolute peach, wont see many better at Wembley. Both sides had their chances but remained at 2-2 and went to pens. Orient led 3-2 in the shootout but their next two spot kicks were saved and Rotherham converted theirs to win 4-3 and be promoted to the Championship

wow! sounds like quite a game. I stopped following league one as soon as we (wolves) were promoted :)
of the teams 3 to 6 Rotherham were the form side in the second half of the season, Leyton Orient were the form side of the first half (and led the table for quite a long time). Looking forward to next season already in the Championship.
Fleetwood 1-0 Burton Albion in the League 2 playoff.
Fleetwood into the third tier for the first time, now an amazing 6 promotions in last 9 years
Also interesting to note that two of their best players through the 70's played for the Socceroos in the 74 WCJust had a read about them, thats quite an amazing story. Especially for a club that has been forced to fold on numerous occasions. From what I see they've made the second round of FA cup a couple of times and they hold the record for receiving the highest transfer fee for one of their players as a non league club ($1mill).
(That player was Jamie Vardy who went to Leicester City. Vardy scored 16 goals last season to help their promotion to the Premier League... amazing story even for him).
You have to love stories like this in English soccer.
Wolves first game back in the Championship register a 1 nil victory of Norwich overnight. Great start and always nice to get a win early after going up a division.
Ipswich defeated Fulham on the opening day. I fully expect another season of mediocrity, finishing just outside the playoff places.
Got a couple of mates who are from Midlands (I think) so pleased for them that Wolves are at least back in the championship. Hopefully they can keep lifting and get back into the Premier League ASAPWolves first game back in the Championship register a 1 nil victory of Norwich overnight. You love your Tractor Boys, don't you?

Don't tell me there's another Essendon/Ipswich Town supporter???
Yep, afraid so.
Incredible. I thought I was the only one.
How do you see us going this season?

The bugger hadn't even heard of Mick Mills and Kevin Beattie when I quizzed him. I think back in the 70s, they had a shortarse keeper who may have gone to Man U.
He'd only heard of George Burley as a manager. Buggered if I can remember any other Ipswich players.

What would a MIllwank fan know about the tractor boys

Yeah but you've got to remember that you're a old ■■■■■■■, and me not so much.
Probably good enough just to miss the playoffs.Incredible. I thought I was the only one.

I can't claim to know too much. I don't go to the effort to watch any championship coverage. So I'm a pretty rubbish supporter.

You'll just claim to know everything about everybody if they storm to promotion.

Ah yes Paul Cooper! Had an amazing record as a penalty saver too.
The names from our great 70's and 80's teams under Bobby Robson should be required knowledge for any Ipswich fan! Cooper, Mills, Burley, Beattie, Butcher, Osman, Hunter, Whymark, Muhren, Thijssen, Wark, Mariner, Brazil, Gates..
Little known fact: Ipswich would have won the First Division in 1974/75 if the rules awarded 3pts for a win instead of 2pts. I think that is the only season where the winner would have been different under the 3pts for a win rule.
