There was talk a couple of weeks back about midfield trios and with Merretts interview after the match talking about spending more time forward due to the trust he has in Durham and Caldwell makes me ask the question Is this our new midfield trio?
Durham Caldwell Perkins?
Where does this leave guys like Parish, Sheil and Setterfeild especially when you have Hobbs and Tsatas also coming through.
Do we look to move on a parish and try to boost our forward line with a small?.
All I know is that Sheil should be nowhere near it.
IMO we just need that star mid. Easier said than done to get one.
WARCHEST
Merrett is a decent small forward.
We still lack tjhat pacy player - Soligo and Rakine troubled us, Caldwell couldn’t catch him, just as well he didn’t do a hammy like perkins did chasing Rozee.
I say onball 4 - as Scott likes to roll 4 guys mainly through their.
Durham
Caldwell
Perkins
Tsatas - probably another season away from getting time he needs there though. But has the pace we desire
operation secure the bont
If we could get an LDU from North.
Merrett, LDU, Durham, Caldwell & Hobbs.
Perkins is likely to be part of the rotation too.
Setterfield is depth at best (when not injured)
I personally don’t see that player in Perkins.
Fair enough.
I reckon he was showing plenty prior to his hamstring.
Personally I’d be prioritising other areas of the ground but if a free agent came up or someone fell in your lap then I’d be all for it.
LDU is an RFA next year. Bring it.
We will have to beat Collingwood to get him, apparently.
Worth a shot.
Sammy Durham ready to take that step
That’s how I see it too
Keep tsatas in, and tonight is the midfield we should be rolling out every week
Has a really good mix of youth, grunt, bit of pace, good disposal
Caldwell and Hobbs look so much better playing the majority of minutes in the middle. The team looks better when they do to
Setterfield can be depth, and Shiel should only come in if if a bunch of guys go down injured
I was really hoping that was going to be Tsatas but he’s kicking doesn’t allow it I think
I actually think he’s an ordinary forward
He’s as good or better than Salem (who is a gun) off half back.
Zac tackles and closes space at an elite level
That wouls release Martin up the ground
What I love about Durham besides being a ripping bloke is he has that quick few steps to get out of traffic and he is hard as a cats head.
Some of he’s tackles are text book bone crunching
He’s so fun to watch. I’ve never seen a player hit a pack harder than he does and end up with the ball half the time. He had this intent when he resembled 18yo Marty Gleeson too. Now just does it with an AFL body.
Parish is taking up space
Seriously poor decision not moving him on for first round compo
