Overrated Movies

Bohemian Rhapsody, the guy who played Mecury was annoying and the storyline felt rushed.

You know its true

No offence taken, these things are a matter of opinion. Your opinion isn’t gospel and neither is mine. The movie was filmed almost entirely in natural light; I reckon it’s visually pretty damn impressive. But I’m pretty sure the critics also hated it when it was released…

That you hate Tom Hanks for no good reason???

Yes, I do…and it makes me sad

Training Day - terrible

Harry Potter 1 - 8 (sure they look fun, and I get that heaps of people love them, but they send me to sleep. Harry Potter USJ though? Best day of my life!)

Agreed about Inception. Too clever for it’s own good; it did absolutely nothing for me.

Some other highly acclaimed films I felt similarly about: Mystic River, Mean Streets, The Matrix and the second and third parts of Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy.

That was terrible!!! Why didn’t the Japanese just go and cut down the rope ladder, or at least shoot the guys from the top of the cliff.

But, a worse war movie was ‘Fury’ starring Brad Pitt.

I tell you a snooze fest.

The Irishman.

We have had a similar thread to this earlier in the year, and this movie was one of the main targets. l watched it in the cinema and wile l recognized the technical aspects including the cinematography, but the film itself was utterly boring. It wasn’t so much that if ailed to maintain interest as it completely failed to engage interest in the first place. Ryan O’Neill looks miscast and uncomfortable in his role throughout.

I liked the movie…but that part really bugged me (and it was based on a true story)

I enjoyed Bohemian Rhapsody a lot, but it bothered me that for a film that was meticulous in its recreation of the Live Aid performance, was wrong about nearly everything else.

Rated about right for mine.

Harry Potter- all of them

Twilight films- my ex dragged me to these. If your a girl reading this. THOSE MOVIES SUCK

Thin red line- moments of brilliance surrounded by absolute boredom

Most scorecese films I don’t care for. Throwing out F bombs every few seconds doesn’t make a good movie or make you a good director. Shutter island I absolutely love though

Birdman is up there as one of the worst movies and overrated movies in the last 10 years - considering the positive reviews

No country for old men- an awesome villain does not make a good movie.

How birdman and no country won best picture oscars has got me stuffed

Yep

There’s a base at the bottom of a 30m cliff and they’re just… walking around up there? 2-3 snipers on the cliff edge and they could wipe out the lot. Totally took me out of it. Plus the action scenes were shockingly predictable.

It was like they’d had a late change of shooting location, and didn’t bother re writing it to suit.

I love the early Potter films.
Can just sit down and watch them any time.
And then I immediately forget them.

I didn’t find it boring. And I totally agree, as I said in my earlier post, Ryan O’Neal was miscast. From the few things I’ve seen him in, I don’t think he was much chop in general. But I watched Paper Moon recently, and I really enjoyed that one…

The one thing I like about Twilight is that the vampires play baseball.
I find that intriguing.
And not only do they play, but they have baseball uniforms, which suggests a vampire baseball league.
When their game is interrupted the people doing so are hugely apologetic, so this is obviously a big deal for them.

Twilight’s biggest crime is being the launching pad for that utter tripe “50 shades of soft p o r n because I don’t know how to use the internet.”
