Overrated/Underrated Sitcoms and the science of comedy

At least get the quote right.

There are certainly punchlines in All in the Family that would meet the criteria. Even if the character was portrayed as a product of a previous age

Archie never hit or threatened to hit his wife.

Are you saying them yelling at each other??

Malcolm in the middle was underrated.

Boston Legal…I’d consider it a comedy. Extremely underrated.

That is a great pick. Amazing show.

I never said anyone was hitting anyone, It was about the punchlines of jokes…

I cannot be bothered arguing anymore. If you really think there was no implied violence in 70s comedy (and Andy Capp ran on the front pages of mainstream papers until the 90s!) then I am never going to convince you…

Goldie Hawn and Steve Martin on the Late Show at the turn of the Century, anything with them together, beyond the speed of light in one liners.

Veep is underrated. That show made me laugh so much.

Ricky Gervais’s response to the little ranga in the schoolyard calling RG a paedo.

Something along the lines of “if I were a paedo, I wouldn’t be going after an ugly little red-headed c**t like you”

You can’t name me one. HAHAHA!!!

Good talk. We’re done.

I named them, you just chose to change the parameters, to somehow prove that there was no implied violence in any 70s sitcom.

But you’re right, we’re done.

Underrated: Wilfred (US Version) havent seen the AU one but the US one is a fkn pissa and a different side of Elijah Wood i wasn’t expecting.

How The Golden Girls is rarely mentioned as one of the best of all time is staggering.

It was the best written sitcom of the 80s/90s and would be top 5 ever.

I’ve seen a few Rick and Morty mentions in this thread so far, has anyone mentioned Solar Opposites? Almost the exact same premise but charming in in its own unique way.

In the podcast world, ■■■ Town and by extension The Adam Friedland Show nail the un-PC, juvenile aspects to comedy. Hilarious if you’re not easily offended (and I believe very few are)

In Futurama one of the evil network executive robots boasted that he once added a laugh track to a sitcom that had no jokes in it. I’m certain that joke was predicting Big Bang Theory. Just trash

In light of recent events, time to give ‘Me Play Joke’ another listen.
