Yes they are but this idea that they have their own domestic air fleet is incorrect. Their air freight is moved around Australia on Qantas/APG freighters
I think you read to much into my comment, i never said DHL had domestic planes? I may have not been clear but i meant they use their own planes on international routes. This is what is holding up my delivery.
Anyway, if i was sending anything else internationally until Qantas is back up and running i would use DHL.
Ok fair enough. DHL use Kalitta Air to move a lot of freight to Australia and do also use Commercial Airlines for some aswell just as AP do. I would also use DHL to get stuff to Australia especially Europe but would probably use FedEx fron the US as they are slightly better performance wise.
Where DHL struggles in Australia is getting freight from the main Australian ports to other cities as they simply have no network here.
To and from Texas, DHL beats FedEx on price and delivery, for us anyway.
shout out to Australia Post today! I ordered some more Nespresso capsules at 5.30pm yesterday. Just got a text message to say they’ll be delivering them this morning. Excellent!!
I live near the flight path in Sydney and see gold Tailed USPS planes fly in daily. Has done all through coronavirus pre and post March 2021.
I got Anthrax in the post yesterday
For All Kings?
Great initiative by Aus Post here, really like it!
No, Rumours.
Dammit wrong joke
Meanwhile I’m at day 5 of an item that was received at Ringwood East post office and needs to get delivered to Croydon post office (why the person didn’t just take it to Croydon in the first place I’m not sure but still!).
1km = 1 day
bizarre difference! mine’s coming from Sydney
I’ve actually found interstate deliveries to generally be quicker.
Presume it’s because they go through the bigger hubs and therefore get sorted more quickly.
I had about $1k worth of computer equipment delivered during the week.
Seller says that it was their policy to require a signature at point of receipt for orders over $500. Which is fair enough.
The whole shipment got dumped at the post office. I was at home all day, there was no attempt to deliver to the house. No card left, no email, no tracking. I only even heard about it at all because after it had been sitting at the post office for ten days, another completely unrelated package for me also got left there, and this one had my phone number attached. The post office guy recognised my name as the one from the unclaimed shipment, called me and said ‘hey, we’ve got four large packages here for you, are you picking them up?’ I’d been assuming it hadn’t been shipped yet.
And then when I went to the PO to collect, they didn’t even ask for ID or a signature. Sigh.
coffee delivered. 17 hours after ordering. Totes impressive!
echoing the hatred of fastway/aramax. getting a tracking notification from them may as well just say “we will be throwing this package into port phillip bay and collecting a signature from a dolphin to say it was delivered so you can’t claim sht. hope your day sucks as much as we do.”
The local Fastway/Aramex contractor is living his dream, driving around all day with his dog in the passenger seat. We gave him that dog as a puppy. We get good service.
Fkg FedEx. Paid extra to get a package from USA “in 5-7 days”.
Parcel sent 27th July. Arrives in Australia 1 August. So far so good.
Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday sits in a warehouse in Sydney. Great.
Friday the tracking info says:
10:22 WELSHPOOL AU On FedEx vehicle for delivery
They won’t say when it would be delivered and if I am not home they will drop it off at an inconvenient place miles away. So I take the day off work. And wait.
Status updates through the day and as late as 17:55 keep saying it will be delivered “before 18:00”.
At 18:05, the message switches to:
As late as 9pm they still say the same thing.
Now on Saturday we find:
The fkg idiots drove it around Perth all day. It was back at their depot at the same time they were advising me they would get it here by midnight.
So now it looks like I will have to take Monday off work while they take it for another drive around town.
Fkg idiots. They could not be more incompetent unless Scotty Morrison ran the company.
Post can be funny. Two parcels both arrived in Adelaide from Japan Friday last week. One arrived today at home. The other is still hasn’t been processed further.
I had a package arrive a day earlier than expected this week. Stoked!
