why would it take anything out of me, for you lot to only see what i say, in a certain light ?
all i essentially said is, he hasn’t been given any oppotunities at afl level so far, despite form, what makes it a given after a year out ?
if you want to think that’s negative, go for it, i only see it as pragmatic.
which i guess one could ask, doesn’t it take alot out of you to only see the supposed pessimistic/negative side in what i say ?
you could look at it in many and any ways you want to, but you lot always come back to those 2, go figure.
Patton to Hawthorn “will make sense for all parties” says McClure
By SEN
Sam McClure believes Jon Patton will join Hawthorn next year.
McClure is confident the GWS forward will leave the Giants for the Hawks and feels it won’t take much to get a deal done to suit all parties involved.
“I think he’ll be there next year,” he said on SEN Mornings .
Prompting Nick Riewoldt to ask: “What would they have to give up for him?
“Similar to the Tom Scully situation?”
McClure replied: “Yeah, I don’t think much.
“He’s done three knees now. He’s on a lot of money.
“The Giants have got enough money to pay (Stephen) Coniglio, so put that to one side.
“They’ve got (Lachie) Whitfield coming out of contact at the end of next year. They’ve got (Tim) Taranto and (Jacob) Hopper who look like they might be $700,000 players themselves soon.
“They’ve got to keep turning the wheel. It’s a deal that will make sense for all parties.”
26-year-old Patton, who is contracted until 2020, remains sidelined with the torn ACL he sustained in Round 15 last year against Hawthorn, his third serious knee injury.
He has played 89 games for the Giants after debuting in 2012.
You would seriously only take him if it’s for a future 4th rounder. Has a heap of talent but after 3 knee recos, you have to wonder whether even half of it will be realised.
And by “all parties” he means all varieties of communication specialists.
This idea that GWS needs to bleed multiple significant players every year is ridiculous. It may have been true in the past, but they’re past the point that is sustainable.
Would be a better fit for Dees
They need a key forward…and are closer than the hawks.
Saints don’t need him, but if they heard he is injury plagued and cheap they would go after him lol.! Would be a better fit than Draper as he could play forward ruck with Marshall.
And a bit of insurance if McCartin pulls the pin, and they have cash to burn.
Hawks need anyone they can get, even better if he only costs a fourth rounder. And they would run the line that they have the best medicos in the business.
Carlton don’t need him with McKay/Curnow.
Would assume McKay could play forward/ ruck role better.
Would be handy at the pies. They would back their medical staff too.
Would be handy at the swans too, he doesn’t have to move.
Geelong would be sniffing around, but big bill thinks they are going after coniglio. Hawkins must be nearing the end of is career.
Would be handy at North, but will they be in rebuild mode with new coach?
The doggies paid a lot for the last former number 1 key forward from GWS. They would probably be interested too.
But from Patton’s perspective. It’s probably about the rehab. And possibly contract extension.
Hutchys minions are already drumming up interest in trade period, because amazingly trade time is the time that Hutchy makes a lot of his money (clicks on the website and trade radio etc). He’s trying desperately to grow it into what the NBA has, just so he can make more money. Don’t buy into it, rumours this time of year are mostly garbage
Patton would add to the cripple brigade at the Hawks. All of these guys, because of their injuries are going to have short careers. The Hawks pain look like it’s going to be a decade long struggle.
