For sure. But if you want to zoom you start losing the quality cos they’re not built for that, you’re basically just enlarging that part of the shot at a similar resolution which starts taking the sharpness out. It can still look good on the phone but would be very noticeable on a desktop screen.
But for many scenarios the phone would do a good job for most people.
I’ve taken trips with only my phone, or taken my DSLR and not had much chance to use it, especially when with family and they didn’t want to indulge me with getting the shots just right.
Yep, likewise. And I’m currently in Tassie with the family and I’ve made it very specifically a non photo trip. I’d be far too much of a delay for the others. A few snaps as we go and a mental note of where I’d like to go in future when I’m chasing photos alone.
That said, I did throw in the E-M5 after initially thinking I’d not take a camera at all. With the small zoom lens, it weighs well under a kilo.
I can do that, but I still have to get it out of the camera bag, turn it on, then try to make sense of what’s on the tiny screen or virtually unusable viewfinder. And if I’m using the auto function, what I get is not that much different from the iPhone anyway.
This is the garrisons Commanding Officer sitting room at Port Arthur. They lit it nicely for me , i just had to frame and expose it for the look i wanted.
We’re just home from a Tassie road trip. Great place if you enjoy a travelling holiday. I want to go back and do it again on a motorcycle. Lot’s of places still to go, and i’ve yet to exactly put it into words but the overall vibe of Tasmania is quite something.
Cheers. Precisely what I’m after on that one. I like photo’s that look like paintings. I wasn’t sure how it would look because I only had the phone to view it on, especially the graininess on the walls and in the shadows. Looks pretty reasonable on the 17 inch monitor now that I’m home.
