Now you’ve seen what William Herschel saw and studied in April 1793.

8500 light years away from Earth. This is still part of the Milky Way.

Beautiful photo and what an amazing man Herschel was. So clever.

I love bees. We have often rescued walking bees over the years by giving them a little bit of honey to slurp on…then up they go, fly a 360° circle to get their bearings and then off they fly. This advice was given by Karl Kruscelnicki many years ago. He said they’d just run out of juice! (So to speak).
Anyway….your amazing pic reminded me of that.

My first submission from the d5300. Sunset at Frankston beach a couple nights ago.

Hopefully I’ll pick up a 50mm prime lens in the next day or so, got some leads on marketplace I’m hoping come through …

Nothing amazing compared to some other shots in here. Took this one on Fri night with the S23 Ultra

Brother took this.

Edit: don’t ask me about the bendy building. I didn’t take the shot.

Thought I’d try the Saladin triad…

As a rule for phones, try to use the 2x or 4x lenses for less bendy shots. The 1x is basically a fish eye lens.

If using the 1x or 0.7x for people try to keep faces away from the edges!

I have an Rx100. I took it to India in October, and although I took it with me when I went out, I didn’t use it. Quite honestly, I find the whole business of turning it on, getting the settings right, then trying to frame the shot either in the minuscule viewfinder or the insufficiently-lit backscreen was too much trouble, so I took all my snaps on the iPhone. I have a standard iPhone 12, but there should be a new iPhone out in September, so I’m thinking of getting whichever model has the best camera and using that on the trip to Greece I have planned for October. From what I’ve read, the best phone cameras are pretty good these days.
