Political Correctness

A close friend of mine is a paraplegic, and she refers to herself as a “cripple.” And if you go to any event or attraction with her, she insists on booking the tickets because she gets “the cripple discount.”

The ridiculous ones are hearing that blind and deaf aren’t acceptable. And nonsense like vertically challenged or follically challenged. It’s still shortarse and chrome-dome to me.

I have enough issues with using ‘person’ instead of ‘man’ at the end of an occupation.

Chairman can become chair, fireman firefighter, police officer etc.

It just gets to a point where it becomes painful. Reminds me of Trudeau correcting someone for saying “man kind”, and he goes “people kind.” Get a grip ■■■■■■■■, you know what they meant, they weren’t being sexist.

if instead of mankind, you said humanity, they’d still complain that there was man in there.

They’re still trying to work out a new name for the cockpit

They could always go with “the box office”.

See that would be a fun flight if i was given a message on the loudspeaker from the box office.

Front desk?

Probably in the wrong thread, but has an Blitizers had to deal with personal gender pronouns

I was quite confused today during a Zoom session with a University group that I was pulled into line for referring to other as her, she, he and him. Apparently I should have asked at the start of the meeting if anyone had preferences to what pronouns should be used.

Yes. it’s painful.

If that’s the tone, just go with “they”.

Can’t say I have. Mind you I would put it in the same bucket as nicknames. You can’t choose em, its what your given.

If I am mistaking a she for a he, then I would suggest they aren’t doing a very convincing job.

Have never knowingly bumped into an ‘other’. Are they what you would call a eunuch?

If you want to present yourself clearly as one gender, or conversely ambiguously, and then crack the sads over someone misgendering you, you’re a moron. I’m not a boomer, but that’s someone with issues.

I did not melt down at all; I politely took on board what was said and have learnt from the experience. I posted because this was a new occurence and I wondered how out of touch I am. I have been lecturing at Universities around the World for the last 30 years, and working with Univeristies in Australia for nearly 50 years. I understand that customs vary from country to country and even city to city, and I make no judgement on the matter.

You seem to have a prejudice against anyone over 56, you may get their one day.

You’re a better man than most, Bacchus.

Can’t say the same for all posts between yours and mine.

Real easy to do, keeps things polite for everyone.
