Criticises right wing snowflakes falling for right media tripe (rightly so).
Swallows left wing media tripe hook line and sinker and throws a tanty when somebody says something they don’t like. Irony much?

there inlies one of the bigger problems of the whole bullshit, it’s always funny until it’s something about what one cares about.
I can gather your reaction and how different it would be if someone came to said gathering to rile you up about a certain group of people you go to bat for in and on every chance you get.
Tis also the problem with chappelles bit ( if the above post is correct about it being that monologue) I didn’t find anything wrong with it, i’m actually surprised more woman didn’t get offended by contantly being called ■■■■■■■.
That is some of the point i guess why the anti woke complain, cos they can see it coming, just remember sooner or later they always come for something you care about, because you can find offence in anything that’s said or done, if you want to look hard enough.
As stand up comedy has become more popular and accessible, you have people who aren’t comedy fans commenting on it. They don’t even like comedy.
They like someone getting up on stage and echoing whatever they agree with. They want to clap. They don’t really want to laugh.
Chappelle is my favourite comedian, and he says stuff all the time that I don’t agree with. A good comedian does that.
OK.
Go me.
Benfti’s not really consistently pro or anti.
I always find it kinda odd when comics pump themselves up. Much more common in US comics.
Not knowing the slightest thing about daphne or her story, I don’t have any issue whatsoever with the bit on that front. Is there more of a backstory?
Do you have Netflix??
“inlies”
Yes.
FWIW I’m not a mega-super-duper huge Chapelle fan in the first place.
Watch the last 15-20 minutes of the special. That’s where he talks about it.
It would be hard for me to type the whole thing out, in detail.
Or watch the whole thing in it’s entirety.
Netflix doesn’t answer to sponsors or advertisers. It’s bottom line is determined by subscription numbers.
Dave’s special hasn’t seen a reduction in subscriptions, therefore they couldn’t give a flying fark.
Don’t think for a second that any of these ‘lefty’ tech companies actually care about any of these causes, other that how it affects their profits.
I watch a lot of clips of Mock the Week. Now there are some very, very incorrect buggers on there…including some of the ladies who prefer ladies.
Ditto Jimmy Carr and 8OO10CDC.
Are you going through posts with a fine toothcomb?
The sad part is that most of the people who have a problem with it, haven’t even watched it. I will never understand that mentality.
I reckon most outrage about art and media, comes from people who never saw the full special / movie / interview, or never read the whole book / article.
Lots of people read headlines or watch small clips, and then get their rants ready and loaded.
I don’t think this is a problem that affects one particular side of any ideological debate, either. It’s a problem right across the board. Most of the biggest critics of Hannah Gadsby’s special (that I heard, anyway), never actually watched it.
Agree with this.
However, one side almost exclusively tries to get what they don’t like removed.
I personally don’t think that’s an exclusive feeling, more that one side is better at it getting it actioned.
I find it hard to think of any entertainer being cancelled thanks to a conservative movement, over the past 10 years.
Not farking with you. Genuinely cannot think of any.
Well I did say they weren’t good at it. Anymore, anyway.
Back in the 90’s/ 2000’s when ‘Family’ and Christian groups had influence in this country, they tried to cancel every metal band or horror movie that popped up.
So, I more meant that the ‘feeling’ to cancel isn’t exclusive, but one side is currently much better at it.
The Chaser called them the secondary audience, I think.
After their Make A Reasonable Wish sketch pretty much got them cancelled.
That’s because right wingers tend to be more principles driven. Cancelling somebody could be seen as violating free speech. There’s heaps of people that talk utter drivel that poisons people’s minds that I don’t like but if I’m to be consistent with my beliefs (something utterly foreign to woke types) I need to zip it.
