So taking 33.26M, dividing it by 52 and dividing again by 5 that comes to 127,923 unanswered calls per day.

5000 job cuts from successive governments and 1200 last year alone, may be a reason.

Yep. Also doesnā€™t help that Centrelink has become very complicated and quick to cut payments. The turnaround from this, is that those who are doing the right thing need to call often to ask questions about what the right thing to do is in their cirucumstance. Even when you do the right thing (like submitting documents) if itā€™s not ā€˜checked offā€™ by staff (documents are submitted electronically through their app but it seems someone needs to look at it) then you get a letter stating you havenā€™t done something, which then requires a call, then a follow up etcā€¦

Staff are under so much pressure it just becomes a churn fest and itā€™s no wonder they get things wrong so often. There is a need to do more but that means no time for checks and balances.

Itā€™s currently a horrible system.

Maybe we need to consider a living wage for all and cut out all other entitlements and benefits.

Simple. Fair. Equal.

Wonā€™t happen.

Nice commentary by Tony Burke:

ā€œIā€™ve seen too many occasions where women staffers become the subject of gossip and innuendo, where their professionalism is undermined by smear, and where they are treated as less than the smart, professional, and dedicated workers they are. Iā€™ve seen women miss out on promotion because of it and Iā€™ve seen women leave altogether. But there are two things Iā€™ve never heard. Iā€™ve never heard a politician, let alone a Cabinet Minister use parliamentary privilege to slander staff the way Michaelia Cash did. And Iā€™ve never heard the same sort of smear and gossip used against a male staffer. All I hope is that women who want to contribute to public life in years to come for whatever political party they believe matches their views, realise it was the people who condemned Michaelia Cashā€™s comments who represent modern Australia. Michaelia Cash doesnā€™t. And to the women who have already made the decision to work tirelessly for a political cause, you deserved so much better than this and we will keep fighting to make it better.ā€

Apparently, Cash misjudged the intent of Cameronā€™s question. Her new Chief of Staff was transferred from another Ministerā€™s office and she assumed that he was connecting that to the bonk ban. Cameronā€™s interest appears to relate to anti- union appointees.
As for the comments on Burke and Shorten by that disgusting person Dutton, no mention of the several marriage break ups on the Coalition side ( including at senior level). This is a man who lied about Save the Children.

Barnaby tees off at the media for assuming the child is his. What a disgusting human being, I donā€™t see how this interview helps him at all, but to put his partner in the gun line like this is a special human

Really? Sheā€™s being paid with our money, by a politician knobbing her, Iā€™d say thereā€™s a very good argument itā€™s in the public interest. Plus, itā€™s clearly true theyā€™ve been knobbing

What an utter and contemptible ā– ā– ā– ā–  of a human being.

Trip, you want slander? Quote this, in your make believe court case with your make believe judge and make believe laws.

I really feel sorry for vicki campion in all this but wtf was she thinking sleeping with that POS. Fmd you donā€™t air your doubts about stuff like this in public - is he trying to humiliate her into leaving him. Canā€™t believe this guy was deputy pm and he has the gall to suggest heā€™s doing everybody a favour by not going through with a paternity test - just fark off already.

Still no self reflection from him about why get lost his position

To attack the media for assuming the child was his is one thing, but it takes some class to make everyone look much worse in doing so. Heā€™s a colossal fool.

Soā€¦
ā€œIā€™d like to say that itā€™s absolutely important that there be a circuit-breaker, not just for the parliament, but more importantly, a circuit-breaker for Vikki, for my unborn childā€¦"

I meanā€¦thereā€™s a couple of things thereā€¦

What an absolute grub of a human being.

To publicly try and justify yourself by saying the woman you are currently in a relationship with sleeps around and may be pregnant to someone else is utterly reprehensible.

Anyone who votes for him needs to have their heads read.

We really donā€™t need politicians that say things like ā€˜no one ever asked meā€™ as a reason for not being truthful.

The New England voters will look the other way.

Wow. He just undid the only ethical part of what he had done over the last couple of weeks. Stick by the woman he had got himself into this mess with in the first place. It lasted, what, less than a week before he also blew that up spectacularly. What a class act this guy is.

They wonā€™t give poor Barnaby a break.
