The ABC is clearly in the wrong here. Everyone knows that if anyone deserves to be call a ■■■■, it’s Bernardi.

Fair enough, of course the Murdoch rags will feast on it but it sounds like run of the mill lightweight skullduggery. If only that were the end of the capers. It’s not. So many of these people, State and Fed, Lib, Labor, Green, are the same unbearable, conniving, blinkered opportunists from my generation of Uni pollies. It’s depressing as ■■■■.

Don’t we so hard on your generation; Austalian society in general have been connivers, tax cheats, rorters and all round scallywags since the First Fleet landed on Invasion Day in 1788.

It was not us Irish Convicts who set the tone, but those thieving Pommy middle management and royalists.

Someone who’s policies have lead to thousands of deaths including children, is offended by a comedian calling someone a c*nt.

Makes sense.

Then don’t pay it.
Take a chance.

This year I have spent 31 days in St Vincent’s heat unit and undergone a 4 1/2 hour pacemaker operation, PICC line insertion, X Rays that many blood tests I couldn’t count, and been seen by 3 top specialists.

Try figuring out the cost of that without insurance and don’t tell me about public hospitals or how young you are and don’t need it, just bear in mind James Fixx was 52 when he died of a heart attack and he was supposedly the fittest man in the world.

Its worth being reminded of when HI can be of value.
Seems there is merit in the idea that hospital cover is important when you need it, while extras are marginal.

Re. extras, I visit the dentist, physio & dermatologist once or twice a year each, get a little back on the 1st two, but nothing on the dermo.

And I’d like to tell you how young I am, but I’d be lying.

I can only go on my own experience and say not much if anything.

I was denied health insurance because I had seen a GP before getting it about a bad belly. Seriously.

Our health insurance costs us now $340 per month.

We have top hospital cover with a $500 yearly excess through HCF. It has doubled in about 10 years. We cut all the “extras” as they were not really worth it.

I have 5 nights in hospital late last year and my gall bladder removed. Cost the $500 excess, total bills were over $10,000 paid by HCF.

I hate insurance, but I hate public hospitals more.

If Guy can’t win this upcoming election, he should sack himself.

His face would be as red as a lobster.

Ha! Not far off. I should probably be more worried about the young spinners coming up and getting in the middle agers ears.

When exactly is the NLP going to show us the research that the ‘trickle down effect’ actually works?

It’s flat out corruption that multibillion dollar companies aren’t paying a cent in tax, and its justified under some outdated conservative theory that the $$$ will eventually land in the bank accounts of the lower class.

Mate there is none. There’s close to 100 years of evidence which shows that “trickle down” economics just doesn’t work.

You know what stimulates the economy? Spending money. You know who spends money? Low socio-economic people.

Where are you getting this nonsense from that multi-billion dollar companies don;t pay tax?
And which particular multi-billion dollar companies are you talking about?

Glencore Investment would seem to be number one on the list, whoever the hell they are.

You’re welcome.

Edit: You do have google, though, right?

What news organisations are you isolating yourself to, that your not getting this information?

I’m guessing multi billion news organisations that arnt paying tax?

No wonder Fox News are pro LNP

I don;t think some of you understand how tax is calculated (must have gone to the Emma Alberici School of Economics :slight_smile:slight_smile:

Looking at Whitehaven Coal for example. In 2015, it posted a loss of 342million. That then counts against any profits made in 2016.

And those figures look very rubbery. It says that Whitehaven’s ‘income’ was 1.57billion for 2016 when in fact that was its revenue. Its actual pre-tax profit was just 27.7 million.

As a publicly listed company Whitehaven needs to be audited and its figures are accountable to ASIC.

But if you want to believe the ABC then so be it.

Do you mean News Australia Holdings Pty Ltd with an income of $2,940,636,294 last year?
