I was flicking through the channels and caught one Lib saying they now had a mandate to pass their budget that failed. Not sure the guy (whoever it was) understands the word “mandate”.
Well, he was handed a project that was blowing out (as they all do anyway) and asked to turn it into complete waste of time and money. There's really no coming back from that. This all goes back to when Abbott defeated him as leader by one vote. Gollum gave him the crappy communications portfolio and asked him to sabotage the biggest infrastructure project in this country since the hydro scheme. I'd imagine he'd be very protective over what was done during that time and I reckon they're being proactive in stopping Labor using more of it as ammo as it might just get a lot of attention now.
Yep to this too.
People act like Malcolm himself scuttled the NBN, when the (likely) reality is that after the leadership challenge Tony handed him a massive stick of dynamite with about a quarter of an inch of lit fuse left and a handwritten note saying “Fk you, deal with this”
Wonder if thhere's something in the leaked dox, that proves that they had a deal with Rupert to completely ■■■■ the NBN so he could protect his Fuxtel cash, in exchange for the most virulent attack on Labour ever instituted & no examination of Lib lies.
That would be handy.
Nah, that’s dreaming.
That sort of stuff never gets written down. It just gets agreed verbally on a golf cours of at a taxpayer-funded expensive restaurant dinner, and a vaguely plausible ‘official’ reason is invented when it comes to doing the paperwork.
Yep.
They would be absolutely insane to put anything like that in writing.
So the NBN complained to the AFP in Dec 2015, the media wrote an article about it in Feb and then the AFP launch highly visible, with media presence, searches of two Labor people in May during an election campaign.
And they expect us to believe no politics were involved in this matter?
The other thing that’s pretty obvious is that what the leak is about has somehow now taken a back seat to the fact it is a leak and how untrustworthy Labor is. Pathetic.
Yep the leak showed Malcolm had screwed the pooch pretty badly.

It will be interesting to see how it plays out. Most of what I’ve read today has the government as the suspicious player so far. It’ll take massive Rupe spin to spin out of it backfiring on them.
I think the point the ALA are trying to make is that there is no place to even contemplate Sharia Law in any pocket of Australian society and its time to stop turning a blind eye to it just in case you get called a racist/bigot/sexist/mysogonist etc.
They already allow a form of Indiginous Australian tribal law to go hand in hand with Aussie law, why not parts of SL that are reasonable?
Because the Australian people should decide what is and isn’t law and the people who want to live here need to accept those laws.
If they want certain aspects of SL, then find a country that finds it acceptable.
Umm, so if the people of Australia think that we should allow parts of SL in Muslim communities, then you fully support that? Does that also mean you think Muslims are not Australian and should have no say?
