Praccy match v Cats -- some Cat time, some Cat place

a defensive role for laverde up forward perhaps

excuse my ignorance but what is EFA?

I agree, I actually think this is one of the reasons we’re constantly mid table too. Prioritizing youth might have anchored us at the bottom for longer at certain periods which would have afforded us better picks and a few more of them.

Although I predominantly agree, you want to make sure you are putting games into the right kids. Also, putting time into someone like Tsatas who needs to work on his disposal may not be the correct call.

The warning signs were there when Kent fkng Kingsley began scoring 6-7 goals against us every time we played them. I’ll never forget the night we let him kick like 4 goals in the first ten minutes of the game. They’ve owned us since that night (2004 iirc)

One of my early football memories was playing Geelong at Docklands in 2002 and Kingsley kicking goal after goal. We were never in it despite beating them comfortably in round 1 to start the year.

Right kids yes. On Tsatas he should be spending more time inside, playing him on the wing doesn’t serve his or our long term goal, wing for stints sure but as the season grows his inside minutes should grow, if it means moving Merrett and Parish out more at times so be it.

We need to throw the magnets around more IMO. I don’t see why we can’t have a month of Parish, Hobbs and Tsatas as the prime movers in the middle with Merrett, Setters and Caldwell the support.

Have a block where Caldwell, Merrett and Durham get bigger minutes.

Merrett, Parish and a 3rd rotating guy isn’t going to get it done I don’t think, I’d split that duo up.

I’d like to explore the list, Baldwin should’ve/could’ve played 12 games last year instead of Laverde.

Dont even know what to expect.

Another team you know would want to amends for a belting the week before and they put in a good performance

Not us tho will roll up where we left off

I like those ideas, but we are past those stages in our development according to fans. Those ideas will result in inconsistent performances and right now everyone would storm the hanger if we started doing that and losing winnable games

In pre-season games this year, and honestly probably next year too, I’m fine with Tsatas playing wing/flank roles.

I’m as bullish about what he can become as anyone, but there are elements he needs to work on, and playing a wing in practice games is probably the best way to do it. Once the season starts, he’ll be playing as a clearance mid, be it VFL or AFL.

Im actually nervous re this one, odd feeling given only pre season. Game could tee up a couple of weeks of sheer joy, hope, happiness and a sprinkle of fulfilment that i havent felt since lloydy destroyed Sewells modelling career. Dont need a win, just to show structure, effort and some talent as per the sales brochure.

Tradies doing work at my joint today, their radio currently playing ‘Highway to hell’… Surely this can’t be related to Essendon’s trip down the, hhrrmmm, highway today?!

Agree with you, the fans want to be good, I do as well, the club want that too but they think the experienced blokes we have can get us there, that’s what scares me.

All it’s doing is making us finish mid table. Anyway, let’s see how we go, hope we see some steps forward tonight.

Conversely you don’t know until you play them extensively. Players who looked like they weren’t going to make it include players like Cale Hooker, Jobe Watson and James Hird.

Everyone get in your cars and get on down. I don’t want to be the only one booing from the top of the Reg Hickey stand this arvo

At no point did I think any of those 3 players weren’t gonna make it.

Then I take it you weren’t on Blitz at that time.

Fair chance!
