Not sure what has happened but I didnt think Stringer looked AFL ready at the Saints game last week. If he plays in the VFL for 2-3 weeks to get some match conditioning think it’s a win win.

This is clearly a mistake.
I agree. I was there and watched the replay again yesterday.
Our entire forward line was completely dysfunctional against the Saints.
We couldn’t lock the ball in at all when in our forward 50 as they effortlessly walked it out.
Then when we were defending deep, our forwards pushed up way too high. This meant the moment the ball got out the back, the Saints defenders (who were all disciplined and kept their shape) could just find the loose player and send the ball back into 50.
RE Stringer. I think he plays as a mid/forward this season, BUT we can’t have him resting in the forward line at the expense of a small forward. He just makes us uncompetitive applying pressure when the opposition exists.
Jones, Weiderman, Langford, Stringer, Guelfi was absolutely shocking. I actually think that would be a mediocre VFL forward line.

I thought you meant that the indicative changes mean the coaches might be making things happen, laying down the law, using strategy at the selection table etc, and we had hope for progress. Which is why I felt the need to remind you that there actually is no hope.
But you’re right - I’m still younger than Fletcher was, braver than Weid is (so is my 5 year old), and while slower than all players individually, faster than their collective ball movement… so maybe hope for me yet…

Lav, Heppell and Stringer playing VFL would definitely be a statement. Would like to see it.

They have all played in the B-team for match sim quite a bit, particularly Heppell and Lav.
I wouldn’t be at all surprised, in fact I’d say the clues are there for all to see.
I’d say that Stringer will come in once fit enough though.
Keep thinking its Friday and waiting for this match to start.
Hope we come out hard tomorrow.
