Huge transformation in 1 off season, knows how big this pre season and upcoming season is. Reckon he was told in his exit meeting what was expected of him.

Gee…they’re happy campers.

When the weapon was here our players bulked up so they can run out games better and stand up in tackles to get the handball out. now the new fitness guy is here the players slim down to run out games better.

I can’t wait to see how many 1 on 1s our players lose in 2020, also how many tackles they let slip through.

Laverde is in his best shape ever according to SMACK. Now, if everybody could touch wood and throw some salt over their shoulder it would be appreciated.

I’m at work.
I could probably find some salt, though.

2 training sessions in and you’ve assessed the whole season already?

And they exploded and didn’t make it to the end of the season.

Fitness is difficult - well it has been for Essendon. We need to improve in this area for:

  • managing injuries.
  • making it to the end of the season/finals in top condition and with momentum.

New fitness guy comes from a multi-premiership successful club - let’s see what he brings and does. There are some decent bodies in those photos so once again let’s see how they progress and stand up in the contest against the opposition. Tackling well against our own players is not going to tell us that.

lol you are basing your opinion on a bunch of internet nobodies who have zero idea whether the players have slimmed down or bulked up. Maybe wait and watch the season unfold instead of running around declaring ā€œthe sky is fallingā€ because someone saw snow for the first time.

and besides fitness I’m hoping we put a massive effort this pre-season into our skills and ball movement/player movement. We have to get this to a level that is reliable and effective, and not easily negated by how the opposition set up. And being able and willing to run hard to provide options and assistance is essential.

Pre-season is all about that optimism that things will change and get better.

I would be extremely happy to see us sticking a few more tackles this year. Maybe that’s what I’ll ask Santa for.

The new fitness bloke said he wants almost everything we do to be with a ball in hand. Not lots of pointless exercising.

Maybe also take some learnings from West Coke in the Elim final. Every time we tried to tackle them, they spun out of trouble.
