Pre trade Best 22

Maybe overdramatic but I’m also talking the general vibe from the club and supporters. Our miserable run of injuries (and playing crippled players rather than booking surgery) and the deafening silence from the club. it just feels like we’re in crisis lockdown.

Our players don’t like ‘Expectations’.

Apart from Draper and quite possibly Mozzie.

And improvement might just come from a better run with injuries- not just the amount, but the timing, as both Collingwood & Richmond, our fellow “woe is me, look at all our injuries” sides finish the season with virtually full lists.

Draper a big chance
Mosquito too.
Gown maybe

but more injury free games from Fantasia, Smith and Daniher would be great too.
Also development from
Parish, McGrath, Langford, laverde, McKenna, Redman, Francis
Similiar output - Stringer, Merrett, Shiel, Saad, Hooker, Hurley, Heppell, Tippa, Mckernan, Ambrose, Zaharakis (could argue some senior guys could improve output)

young guys depth that could step up again or surprise - Guelfi, Ham, Clarke, Mutch, Mosquito, Gown
If Stewart gets over his injury as well gives us another forward option.

If MCgrath or Parish could make that leap to a rising star mid or the competition like Merrett did and need to be tagged, would go a long way to us winning the midfield battle, along with a more competitive ruck duo.

Looks OK to me.
In terms of depth it’s a mixed bag.
Some capable talls outside the best 22 (Zerk Hooker Hartley Brown) but only 1 useful ruck (Draper, who should hopefully challenge TBC).
A couple of mids (Snelling DLarke Mutch Begley) but a little thin.

Almost zero depth for small forwards and wings (Mosquito…). Simply has to he the top priority.

Starting 22- 2020 rnd 1:

B: McGrath Hurley Francis
HB: Saad Ambrose McKenna
C: Smith Shiel Redman
HF Stringer JD Fanta
F: Tippa Smack Langford

Rk- Belly Zerrett Hepp

Int- Ridley Parish Gleeson Hooker.

Yep I agree. I’m really concerned about Hooker’s usefulness going forward.
I really think it’s forward or nothing. As a forward he’s really fighting it out with Smack for a spot now and I’m not convinced he wins that battle any more.

I think Hooker will have one last big preseason, and play the first 10 games strongly.

Back half of 2020,Zerk should transition in.

Whoa!..LAV ahead of Guelfi? What are you smoking???

The good stuff, LAV to OWN 2020

I would doubt we’ll go with the old 10 defenders strategy

Could be Guelfi in place of either Ridley or Gleeson but other than that, is a formidable line-up IF each player plays up to their ability.

Hope springs eternal!
