Reminders you're getting old

I used to watch that with my mum. It was on early on a Saturday night, so we would watch it, then l would head out. It was a great show, a lot of fun featuring Adventure Island with a young Jan Michael Vincent and his mute sidekick, “Uh oh, Chongo.” There were also 2 cartoons in each episode, one of which was The Four Musketeers.

I remember the old 053 area code went pretty much all the way to the SA border. Remember thinking it was stupid that calling Nhill or Kaniva was a local call but Melton was STD rates.

mild cases of kleptomania and hoarding

I can’t believe there are so few posts in this thread. Everything I do these days reminds me I’m getting old.

Is that the novel by Toltstoy?

l remember when record players had 4 speeds, 16, 33 1/3, 45 and 78 RPM’s. The old 78’s were about 6 mm thick. Never saw a 16 rpm record. Radio and amps took 20 seconds or so to warm up, as they were powered by valves.

Yep, both sets of grandparents lived in the Highett Moorabbin area in the 70s. At some point the prefix changed from 95 to 555.

I heard a dumb one on the radio today in an ad for Pizza Hut of all places.

The ad was “a celebration of the 25th anniversary of the stuffed crust pizza”.

Had a rotary phone in our house until 1983-ish. Replaced it with a cordless that had an antenna. Hey that was a big deal.

I had an Atari 5200. A lot rarer than the 2600. Better graphics but perhaps the most unreliable controllers ever made. It was a huge bust and eventually contributed to the downfall of that company.

I found out today by coincidence (because I was researching game cabinets) that the greatest arcade game of all time was released 27 years ago! 27!
