You can argue their effort has improved this year, but had we copped a tough draw the first 4 weeks, I imagine we would have dropped our bundle.

because youâre treating this like its a new conversation, its been going on for years. the team and by extension the club will never step forward if we keep selecting the wrong tools.

i also didnât mean to say snelling should be dropped i mean if this club was going places weâd have moved beyond players like snelling and guelfi.

Worst game of the year. Comfortably.
One of now 7 teams who just have not been physically/mentally ready after the BYE. Surely theyâve got to look at having a âweek offâ for all clubs in June next year rather than hand certain clubs an unfair advantage by playing certain clubs after a week off.
Not blaming this for losing tonight as we were probably up against it from the moment the blowtorch was applied to the Dockers after their loss last week. It was a game they were always going to target and so it turned out that way.
If we are sitting here at the same time next week reflecting over two poor performances in a row, then maybe time for some alarm bells⌠but we need to give this group a chance to rebound first and I reckon they will.

The dockers came to play with intense pressure on the ball carrier.
They broke down our transition and the pressure on the i50 kick caused us to just kick to a contest, where Freos bAckline had a picnic

Why did we change our game style tonight.
Weâve been playing a possession style game but tonight we just kicked long and simply didnât mark it.

Just leave Weideman OUT.
Ive had him as an OUT for weeks.
We dont need more talls with 2mp back and playing 2 rucks.
Replace Weid with another small, you know, like the 2 good ones we left out of the 22 tonight.

Game changed part way through Q1 when Freo stopped zoning and went man on man when we were exiting defence. That created contests around the ground and, as we know courtesy of Dodoroâs recruiting philosophies, we are not check full of players good in the contest.
Freo also lifted their intensity, especially around the contest and exploited the fact that Parish has no concept of defending at a contest - it was often his man clearing the ball from a stoppage.
Aside from gifting them goals with shocking turnovers (they did return the complement), we lost the game because we conceded goal after goal from stoppages - including 4 from a centre clearance.
Iâd hope Parish has the reality of what happened tonight drummed into him and emerges a better player for it next week. We have looked a lot better around contests without he and Shiel who also lacks a defensive side.
Donât know what it is about the bye but all sides, including ourselves, that have lost have looked poor.
And please, can we drop Weideman - and see if he can play as a defender. Would rather try Cox as a forward because he could not possibly give less than Weideman does.
