Merrett is building a massive season
Zach Merrett was huge against North Melbourne, continuing a season that has to have him in Brownlow contention. He was huge in the first quarter and continued on to finish with 34 disposals, 11 marks, eight clearances and two goals. The Bombers skipper has been right in the mix for best on ground in all his sideās wins this year and shows no sign of stopping, making him a serious contender to take home what would be Essendonās first Brownlow since James Hird saluted in 1996, with apologies to Jobe Watson.

Really good to get the four points. As said here Essington would have lost that game for sure.
Merrett is so damn good. That first quarter was insane. He got clamped down in the second, but was still able to be serviceable. We need Parish back so the midfield is still strong.
Thought the games from Martin, Massimo and Menzies were good.
Draper and Phillips worked over Goldy in the centre, but I thought he had the better tap work, especially the last 3 quarters. Phillips is the worst mark ever. Spills all over the shop.

You know what, after I having a similar view for many years, this is a rivalry and North games are one for Essendon fans to also circle in the fixture.
The crowd is always decent, the vibe is always there, itās usually always a good contest.

North turned it into a contested game. And we got bullied and smashed at the contest.
Finals football is contested football. Weāre going to come up against a much better teams than North.
Iāve been very worried about our list build for many years, because Dodoro just doesnāt value contested players.
North absolutely belted us. Theyāre bigger, more physical and younger.
Iām very concerned tbh.
