Hardwick in his post-match presser stated he would give Parish the 5 votes - Think that Ivan is
correct

I thought Bolton was more important to the result than Martin. I actually didnā€™t think Martin had a terribly great game tbh, and am surprised that heā€™s polled so well.

Yeahā€¦ I felt the same. Martin is a gun and kills us everytime but I actually thought he wasnā€™t that influential for large parts of the game. However when they really needed a lift after we poked our noses in frontā€¦ he came in and took over the game.

I would have gone Parish, Bolton, Martin, Chol (he set up the lead in that first quarter), Merrett.

I think it has largely gone unnoticed by some but Chol monstered us in the first quarterā€¦ I think they won the first 15 clearances straightā€¦ set up that handy 20 point lead quickly and then we chased the game from there. I think chasing a game plus the injuries then made us vulnerable for that 15 minute onslaught that killed the game and our %.

We tend to focus more on 4th quarter heroics but that first 15 minutes was when the game was won and lost I think.

Are you sure? I played golf once and they let me start on -12.

Slight exaggeration on the clearances (it was 6-7 at quarter time)ā€¦ but he largely disappeared after that early damaging burst.

Well, with our injury lists, yes, I do think we should introduce handicaps.

Wellā€¦ that is just a slight exaggeration by my standardsā€¦ hadnā€™t looked at stats or replay (clearly)ā€¦ it felt like we just couldnā€™t get our hands on the ball around the stoppage in the first quarterā€¦ i think he took several marks on the wing tooā€¦

Agree he disappeared a little after that.

It was a weird game really in that the stand out players I thought were bombersā€¦ but the tigers had a better team overall. We really fell away badly after those top 3-4 guys.

Ambrose should have swept Dustyā€™s leg.

How accurate are the GPS numbers on the AFL App ?

It says we covered a total of 277.3km, as compared to the Tiges 258.7.

Itā€™s a big differential.
May go some way to explaining why we were able to hang in for as long as we did.
Also, their penchant for utilising more tempo footy than usual, probably meant we were doing more running to close down switches and loose targets in the middle corridor.

2022 you will see rapid team improvement, another pre-season and some of our players sill not be as easily flung about, weā€™re simply not there yet.

I would like us to win too and we may, we also may not.

I think I have found the numbers that explain a bit about the game

Comparison
Ess V. Rich
Games
1751 V. 2722 (Total)
79.59 V. 123.72 (AVG)
AGE
24.7 V. 26.5

If you take out our two most experienced Hooker and Zaharakis our age drops a fair bit. Take out the Tigers two most experienced and theirs moves a minuscule amount.
Itā€™s the numbers that just canā€™t be beaten. Almost 1000 games experience over us

The difference was how well the tigers defensive pressure worked. They absolutely seized every opportunity they created or we gave up to score, and boy did they once they got their hands on it in the last.

Would love to know the stats on scoring from turnover.

When Richmond took the lead by 10 points in the last, I turned it off.

From what I saw, Martin played an average game and had very little impact. Iā€™m guessing he ā€˜turned it onā€™ during junk timeā€¦ and everyone lost their sh*t.

Tigers scored 105 points from our turn overs their highest since 2005 not good enough

Excellent post! We did incredibly well to hang in there against them for as long as we did - especially given we had quite a few more missing from our best side as well.

The best part of our inexperienced line up, is that most of the older players are not essential to our form.
We are on a rapid ascent from here.

We have to either, take the game on, or hide in our shells, we took the game on

ā€œIt is understood that Prestia has been cleared of hamstring damage and did not require a scan after being substituted out of Saturday nightā€™s Dreamtime clash against Essendon with tightness.ā€ -HS

Anyway, Iā€™m over it now, but just need to put this here. ā€œdid not require a scanā€ wouldnā€™t seem to be in the spirit of the game for use of the medical sub. Opens up the option to playing an underprepared player for a half and then subbing them out when they get tired in my opinion.

We were done by the time Rioli came on if I recall (say 3 goals down), but if that sub had been made when the scores were level and Rioli had got involved in burying usā€¦

Interested in peopleā€™s thoughts on this manipulation of the rules taken out of the post match frustration that we (I) were feeling in the 24 hours after the match.

And if that happened on GF day, what should happen?
