Review Thread vs Eagles 2023 - How the west was won (by 50 points)

I am betting almost no one will rush off to watch the replay of that match. They will just look at the ladder.

Won by 50 points without being outstanding at all. Solid, professional performance on the road. West Coast had a crack, which they always were going to, but we held firm, never looked in danger of losing and no fresh injuries from what I saw. Martin and Merrett probably the best 2 for me. Langford is in some superb form at the minute, another 3 goals. Has been the standout player down forward this season. Areas to improve? Weid IMO was average and missed 2 shots he should’ve kicked going for snap kicks. Clearly doesn’t practice them often enough. Just kick a drop punt. Walla, well enough has been said. We can’t carry players who aren’t performing and he looks a shadow of the player he was. In poor physical condition and it shows by how slow he is, how poor he is below his knees, which was a small forward who offers nothing in the air you have to be elite at ground level. If he was in anything approaching any sort of gown he’d have kicked 2 goals. A regulation set shot from 30m out slight angle and a small at the end 15m out he’d kick with his eyes closed at his peak. Anyway, job done, time to prepare for North.

Langford’s a gun forward and should never be played in the backline again.

Nerd

We’re 4 points off being 4th on the ladder.

8 points off 2nd on the ladder

this 12 year old googles better than boomers and gen x losers.

Essendon have played over 100 ā€œinterstate gamesā€ in our history.

That was the lowest score (46) we have ever conceded on the road.

What’s a goggle?

even the game where westcoast had more frees than points going into the 4th q?

He was a massive hype train in his draft year, reckon half blitz wanted his kids

that’s a good stat

It was a pretty crappy game and we never really got out of second gear, but any time we travel to Perth and double the opposition’s score I’m happy.

We really rely a lot on Draper. He’s a constant threat, all over the ground. Caldwell is this year showing exactly why he was so highly rated, even though he came to us having played hardly any senior games due to injury, and was injured a lot in his first year or two with us. Merrett, McGrath and Ridley just keep producing excellence, and Redman is back to his attacking best. Hobbs is showing polish.

I’d like us to have gone harder and won by more, but 50 points will do.

The major things they need to do:

A. get much better at fkg footy IQ
B. kick accurately from set shots in front of goal, instead of trying party tricks off the side of the boot, FFS.

Fark Carlton now 13th. Nice.
