Review v filthy scum

The best sides and players always play the percentages……at one stage today Shiel was a foot from the boundary, on the wing, being corralled by Collingwood players and instead of letting them take him out, he hand balled backwards to no one and kept it in. It didn’t cost us but highlighted how dumb a footballer he is and in general he’s not the only one in our side

Good teams don’t do that

Hypothetical: If Sidebottom and Elliot played for us, and played as they did, would we have won?

It would have been very close. Are we just a Sidebottom & Elliot type off the pace?

Draper surely missed, even though he would have struggled in the wet.

They always seemed to have a player running in support, more so than we did. Fitness? Skill? Coaching?

Probably a bit of all three. We definitely need to improve our kicking. Menzies should have played in the wet.

Happy with our performance up until 3/4 time. Class stood out in the last.

Goldy did okay. Ridley was excellent all game. Durham a bull. Merrett a legend.

Prior does not provide run off half-back Bring in SEH.

Redman then Roberts. Prior got stuck picking him up after Redman zoned off and didnt chase.

Hill was never going to be a threat in the wet. He doesn’t like the hard stuff
Why wasn’t McGrath thrown on to a guy who.kicked 5 if he is that good a lockdown?

[/quote]so the coach couldn’t go to the bench to be part of communications?.

Worst part of today was I expected a loss and after a bad start I was zen about it.
But to get back in front and have a absolute run of terrible decisions and turnovers by Shiel and Setterfeild just handed the game back to them had me FKN livid

I don’t understand when that happened why wasn’t the first thing to do sprint down to the bench and actually coach the players

One thing about Hobbs. Did you notice the one hand pickup in the last with a wet ball on the run ?

He is very sure with his hands and getting better slowly with disposal.

Long term would like to see Hobbs improve more, we could have a hard nosed midfield of

Hobbs Durham Caldwell.

At least they won’t take a backward step . We are too soft

Nah,

Smashed in I50’s, smashed in Clearances, smashed in uncontested possessions.

It’s a 4-5 goal margin at least.

You don’t win a Norm Smith Medal if you don’t like the hard stuff.

Anyone can have a good day. Hard stuff is a lot different in the wet. There lots more of it

McGrath was moved on to Elliot

I think unfortunately Hobbs is too slow. Has a crack and used to bust tackles in the juniors but the AFL is a different story. He hurts us on the outside when the spread is on going forward or back.

Hate piling on a bloke but that HTB was champagne Hobbs, at least he’s avoided that for the most part this season though

Agree he is slow. But maybe he needs to.learn better running pattern to cut the angles . Cover the ground a little easier
