Review v gws @ metricon round 19

last year they weren’t allowed to leave their designated hotel that the whole club had to stay at, sometimes with other teams.
they were only allowed out to train.

big difference this time around, as people have shown by their social media accounts of the players enjoying the beach.

it’s not hub life that’s the issue, it was the expectation of pressure. pressure to perform to prove you deserve to be in the top 8. and they did exactly what they normally do, fold under said pressure.

Our fwds set shot kicking continued its trend of being ordinary & can’t win games of footy if not kicking goals.

Wright (0.3), Hooker (1.2), Smith (1.2) in particular missed multiple set shots needed them to make. Tippa (0.1) rare miss, but also passed a ball off and we lost possession. Stringer (1.0) got one early on but given a clutch opportunity in last and misses everything.

In general play Snelling (0.1) running into open and kick on target but drops short. Smith had another kick around corner from 30 that also dropped short and spoiled through. Shiel (0.1) running free at 45m misses.

10+ shots amongst the lot of them that as a minimum should have seen half go through as they were very very gettable.

Did not want it.

Plain and simple.

Got everything we deserved.

Injuries happen, and will continue to occur. Dont blame injuries.

Like Essendon of the last 10 years

Unfortunately, our only good one can’t kick the Sherrin.

What we can take solace from is the fact we have actually uncovered a group of good young players (even if it wasn’t by choice). It hasn’t been them who have let us down this season by any means. The selection of Zaka tonight still shows we have that bloody Essendon conservatism floating about though.

Think it shows why we still need to keep developing our midfield - more minutes in Perkins and hopefully Caldwell can return before seasons end. We are still very one note in the middle. Stringer is really only a centre clearance man and while we have talent in the middle they aren’t contested possession beasts. We just got pushed around and had no answers.

yeah, nah, it’s not.

Footy is good like that

Where’s the excuse in his post? This team is ■■■■ at playing in hub life. Get used to it.

July, as a month, is like Tuesdays each week. The most annoying, non-useful and utteringly disappointing day/month of the week/year. Shouldn’t exist. Nothing good ever happens.

That’s an excuse. Obviously.

Some probably do Nino, but that’s more about them than the players.

Tagging is for ■■■■ teams. GWS are ■■■■. We’re just worse.

Essendon’s no pressure zoning crap should see the Bulldogs win by over 150 points in a couple of weeks time.

No it’s not. It’s a fact. Have you been watching?

We are allergic to kicking goals. If it’s not missing them, it’s every week deciding to try and hit someone up in a better position we we’ve got the ball inside 50. Man up, take the fkn shot ffs

We are still a long way from a tight knit group who have played a lot of footy together & have that bond. Richmond were able to do it last year & I think in general teams with a good solid core of senior players should be well placed to play through a hub. We have a real leadership vacuum outside Hep. He & Stringer are the only players over 25 at the club who regularly are in our best players.

If that were the case, GWS and Sydney would be hubbing in Victoria like the Crows and Power. As a matter of fact, they were, but then relocated to QLD, rather than just wait for the lockdown to end (which will be in a few days). Instead, we bend over and forfeit a home game
