Shot at top 2 on the ladder and we play like that my goodness.
We are terrible in the wet. Took us almost 4 quarters to figure out how to play?
Pretty gutted with that one
Enjoyed Martin’s and duursmas game but that was about it really otherwise was just quite a frustrating watch. Holding the ball seems to be dead again too, what’s the point in tackling??
yep beat 2 teams entrenched in the bottom 10. that’ll show the comp we are genuine contenders, woo world beaters we are, as long as we play bottom 10 sides we will be awesome.
With the exception of Ridley we didn’t handle the conditions well at all, fumbled, over possessed the ball, ball watched and refused to just knock the ball forward and get some momentum on the ball.
We knew it was going to be wet, we clearly didn’t adjust the game plan accordingly nor did we pick the side accordingly.
We tried to play like we do in dry conditions. Flicking it around by hand and chipping short. Melbourne played man on man, brought the pressure and senior players inevitably crumbled and fumbled.
The number of out the back goals we conceded was just criminal given the conditions. Again, that’s because we didn’t adjust the way we play.
It’s troubling that we’ve struggled in greasy conditions 3 of the last 6 games. We just have to be better than that.
I think we’ve improved a lot. But we’re also miles from a good team.
Lack of composure with our set shots obviously really hurt us too.
Our inability to do anything with the ball once it hits the ground inside our 50 is just not sustainable. We need to find a small forward who the opposition worries about. Unless our delivery inside 50 is pin point perfect we were no chance of scoring. On a night like tonight that will not will you football matches.
