Review vs Freo

Top notch.

Rutten hasn’t got an angry bone in his body and nor do any of our players. Meek as lambs.

He should not be playing again on the performance of last 4-5 weeks

I spent most of the last quarter laughing at the spectacle. Didn’t get a chance to see anything at the comedy festival this year, but I reckon that game came close.

I’ll embrace any positive change. He is one piece of the puzzle that gets all the focus, which is utterly stupid.

A captain who has experienced success would pull the pin right now. They’d be able to measure how far they’ve fallen. Unfortunately Hepp has never experienced anything but mediocrity and thrashings so this isn’t such a stark contrast for him. He lives in falst hope like the whole club.

Using Melbourne Victory as an example of what happens when you have to make a move.

After the 2 worst seasons in club history they rebuilt the club from the ground up and within not even 12 months they’ve won the FFA Cup and sit 3rd on the ladder in the A League

But this club? No we’ll just keep doing the same thing we’ve been doing for nearly 20 years.

It’s all about defence.

We need to understand what is going on in clearances.
Whether we get the tap or not we don’t often gain advantage, and if we lose them in a contested ground ball it seems the guys on the outside have prematurely moved forward anticipating success in the contest.

We haven’t been clean inside and even when we do flip it out the receiver usually fumbles and loses possession in a secondary contest. At which time all of our mids are hopelessly out numbered.

Until we can demonstrate some inside superiority we need to work on the assumption we may very well lose the contest and start positioning ourselves for that secondary defensive effort. It ain’t gonna be pretty but until we earn the right to play offensively we need to be accountable and start making better teams grind out their victories instead of playing like show ponies (minus everything it takes to actually do tricks).

Watching the game, I couldn’t believe the number of times their guys passed over the back of their heads, flopped kicks into space and the receiver nonchalantly collects it one handed on the run with ease.

Why why why?

The answer is pressure, they know there is none coming, and they know,if they f up they will probably be able to recover a spill before we get anywhere near them. As a consequence they are able to appear to be amazingly skilled.

On the flip side, every team that applies pressure in the first contest know it’s not coming out clean or they can accept it when it does because the balancE of probability is working in their favour.

If we want to play like show ponies, then we need a hell of a lot more skill, win nearly every contest and use the ball insanely well.

Sounds like World Cup Brazil, …. We don’t care how many you score we will score more.

But they could play.

Would prefer something a little bit stronger than that. FFS

We will be 1-6 after the Bulldogs game.

Don’t try and rectify the season with Walla, Jones & Stringer.

Play the kids. Finish as low as possible.

I’ll be a little annoyed if they bring those three back in now. None of them are ready for AFL.

That’s pretty damming, with Merret and stringer out we should be utilising this time for development.

Although I could have sworn I saw Hobbs in a couple right at the end of the game.
