I know it's off topic from the OP, but why do Union donations get so much more bad press than other donations from say influential individuals and corporations? If it's a question of political swaying it's even across the board I would think.
I quickly did a Pivot in Excel on that table, the article says that LNP received ‘four times’ as many donations in $ vs. ALP but I find that hard to believe unless that website isn’t giving the entire data set - I’ve currently got it at just over double ($12M vs $5M) - I used a very quick and dirty way of classifying each donor so I’m sure I won’t be 100% correct but still, x4 is far more higher than x2
That interview was really interesting because Bolt was trying to get DiNatalie to take sides based on his theoretical position and he wouldn’t. Most things in Australia today are positioned as left and right and people want to take sides and want other people to take sides.
Bolt couldn’t get DiNatalie to take sides because he was saying you do what was best for the people. The reason I find it really interesting is I saw a US documentary recently that was about advertising around climate change and it was showing how the older scientists in that debate had early on put themselves on one side or another depending on the politics. So because the Republicans didn’t believe in climate change the scientist who are Republicans worked to try and refute any arguments. And Visa versa
I’ve noticed recently myself in the Goodes saga with people like myself saying I can’t believe I was siding with Bolt and Alan Jones etc.
It’s because all those on the left were saying Goodes booing was racist and those on the right saying rubbish.
I think DiNatalie might find himself appealing to a wide range of people if he keeps up with those sorts of interviews and seemingly looking at each position separately.

Breath of fresh air.
It really is the MO of the new greens under his leadership, Larrisa Waters and Scott Ludlam are the same way. RDN is a pretty impressive guy, GP who worked as an aid doctor in India and also Aboriginal health in the NT and played VFA footy for Coburg
