nice even spread from goal kickers

Archie roberts 32 disposals must be a record for him.

Yes. Has been pretty consistent, also has had 25/24/24/23/22/21/20.

How did he play?

Objectively pretty bad. Made lots of basic errors. You can see heā€™s got a bit of talent but Iā€™m not sure he has it between the ears.

I think ā€œpretty badā€ is harsh. Wanganeen did plenty of good things as well as some bad.

Perhaps so, I thought he was one of our worst performed today. Didnā€™t think he offered too much + the errors made it a pretty forgettable game for me.

For those who watched - is Vigo getting any real ruck time, or is he playing primarily forward?

On the assumption that Bryan buggers off this trade week (or at least tries to) we do need to develop this guy. Sounds like heā€™s a promising forward target, but his hit out stat is looooow. Lack of opportunity, or just gets beaten?

Also, did Setterfield pull up ok, or play out the game? His full time stats were basically the same as his 3/4 time stats, did he go off or did he just have a dirty qtr?

How did Roberts go?
was that performance good enough to be seriously considered at selection?
would be hard to find a spot for him at the moment. but 32 and a goal and would bring some excitement to the side.

Tough week to earn selection. Who do you drop?

maybe give hind a full VFL game and Roberts could be sub.

You do not debut someone as a sub - disrespectful.

didnt hurt Zach Merrett.

It happens a fair bit

I thought he mostly had elite disposal and did a reasonable defensive job. With some screw ups.

Visenti chops out in the ruck, but it was minimal time.

Not sure on Setterfield. I donā€™t remember thinking he was missing or the commentators saying anything. But itā€™s not like they showed the bench.

Very good game. As per previous weeks heā€™d have to be in discussions, but Duursma back and Jonesā€™ form probably blocks any immediate chance.

On our listed players. Apologies if I miss any.

  • Tsatas: Kicking was fine and was arguably BOG. Dominant for long periods at the contest. Showed plenty of zip. Anyone doubting him needs to watch this game.
  • Setterfield: another contender for BOG. Got heaps of it and used it well.
  • Hobbs: got plenty of it, but just doesnā€™t feel as impactful as the first two.
  • Roberts: brilliant all day on the wing. Definitely have one here.
  • Bryan: completely dominated the ruck, plenty of possession. A typical Bryan VFL game.
  • A Davey: two goals and a livewire all day. A mixture of wing and forward. Lots of link up play, but also a crumbed goal. Could have sworn he had it more than the stats say. Still doesnā€™t go in hard.
  • Hayes: did alright, probably won his position but despite 18 disposals didnā€™t really stand out to me.
  • Visentini: a decent day with a lot of opportunities for us. Given heā€™s 19 very pleasing. Has a 50m kick in his arsenal.
  • J Davey: two goals which always makes for an acceptable day as a small forward.
  • Menzie: a huge influence in Q1 but then less obvious. Played forward and also scored 2 goals so again, absolutely acceptable. But if heā€™d continued his Q1 impact would have built a case for return.
  • Lual: one to forget. Played on taller opponents a lot of the day, especially early, and really struggled. I think that then impacted his confidence.
  • Wanganeen: generally used it very well, defended fine, but had a few screw ups. Is very classy user most of the time.

And again my normal rant that Foley should be on our Cat B list. With Munkara ā€¦

100 percent agree with foley he has so many skills that transfer well to the afl has a very good leg and is quick and uses it to run back hard

Like ants said chops out Bryan so doesnā€™t get many minutes in there but has had a couple of games were he got more time and got 21 and 25ish hit outs and he was decent in the talent league the knock was that he wasnā€™t versatile enough but has definitely added that string to heā€™s bow.

Yeah Foley could step into an afl game now pretty seamlessly and do a decent job imo. He is the typical good player that doesnā€™t get drafted because he is just always good but never spectacular. These reliable types make the best small defenders though i reckon.

On Foley, itā€™s probably been answered, but can we sign him as a Cat B Rookie?
